Urgency of postponing BARMM's first regular election from May 2022 to May 2025

It was argued that changing the date of the first regular election would require a plebiscite because it would take away the BARMM constituents' right to vote. SB 2214 was simply proposing the postponement of the first regular election and would not remove the people's right to vote. The BARMM Parliament, on the other hand, was inaugurated only two years ago or on March 29, 2019. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is giving Congress until July to decide on the postponement of the BARMM's first election. Through his spokesman, the President has expressed his support for the extension of BARMM's transition phase.
