Earlier, Dang had defeated arch rivals Dennis Koppen of the Netherlands, World No 25, and Scotland’s Christopher Gimbley, World No 19, to reach the final. Another Vietnamese player, Vu Thi Anh Thu, was the runner-up in the girls’ singles category after losing to Purva Barve of India 0-2 (13-21, 9-21) in the final match. Both Dang and Thu have earned a berth in Youth Olympics 2018, which will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October.
