Veteran journalist Ngumbao Kithi died on Wednesday in Kilifi. Kithi, who had worked with Nation and the Standard, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Jocham hospital. Kithi battled heart problems, and underwent open heart surgery at Kenyatta hospital ten years ago. Kithi had worked in Mombasa as bureau chief for the Standard newspaper, and was a senior reporter for the Nation Media Group for more than a decade. Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga, who schooled with Kithi at Ribe boys’ high school in Kaloleni, eulogised the former journalist as a humble person who was always ready to help.
