Mauro Braiotta, 61, came out of retirement in Greece to take over Smarts Wallingford fish and chip shop back in August last year. Mr Braiotta said: “My wife ran the shop and I ran the van, and it was very successful. He said yes without hesitation, and they moved into the flat upstairs as they began refurbishing the shop. Fish and chip orders placed and paid for never reached Mr and Mrs Braiotti, who were horrified to discover customers turning up to collect orders the shop had never received. Mr Braiotta added: “We finished the refurbishment this week, so I would recommend people to come and try us out again.
