The Scottish Government’s introduction of a short-term lets licensing scheme – a fatally flawed policy that could have a disastrous impact on both small businesses and our tourism industry as a whole – is now just a fortnight away. Painfully but predictably, the SNP are once again ignoring siren warnings from businesses (remember the botched Deposit Return Scheme?) This will deliver a hammer blow to Scotland’s tourism industry – an already struggling sector that is effectively being hung out to dry by this SNP-Green government. Not only does the short-term lets legislation pose an existential threat to Scottish tourism – the dismissive attitude and sheer arrogance with which the SNP has handled opposition to it has been staggering. My party will always stand up for small businesses and our tourism industry.
