Where are we in terms of SDGs? As 2026 began, the United Nations Commission for Asia and the Pacific (Unescap) headquarters reopened its doors for the annual Asia-Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development (APFSD). The plenary debate was primarily meant to answer one pivotal question: Is sustainable development still in the limelight of the global agenda? The Asia and the Pacific SDG Progress Report that was recently published by Unescap only proves this point. In this sense, the APFSD in Bangkok was a splendid opportunity for member states to reiterate their commitment to the global development agenda.
