We’ve had two official Super Bowl Sunday spots drop prematurely this week, both from Paramount and both for what are technically kids flicks. Warner Bros. hasn’t dropped a Super Bowl commercial since Batman Begins in 2005, and Sony is sitting this year out. It’s the clear “winner” of the “pre-Star Wars trailer wars,” but yet we’re getting one more this weekend. Speaking of Star Wars, the mid-December release is once again why this year’s Super Bowl seems light on big commercials and especially on first-look debuts. I expected F9 to debut its trailer at the Super Bowl, but the franchise likes to go wild with their trailer launches.
