USA won two gold medals on Day 2 at the 2026 Winter Olympics as Lindsey Vonn's horrible crash dominated the headlines. Vonn's teammate, Breezy Johnson, won the first of the medals having already set the fastest time in the women's downhill. The second gold came at the end of the day, as Ilia Malinin led USA to gold in the figure skating team event. In response to Vonn's crash early Sunday morning, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team confirmed that Vonn was “in stable condition” after having to be airlifted from the mountain by helicopter.
