The tussle that started between central government and social media firms over new IT Rules seems to be not ending soon. Big social media giants like Twitter WhatsApp , Facebook and even search engine Google have time and again declined to comply with some of the New IT Rules. India’s new Intermediary Guideline Rules became effective on May 26, after the expiry of a three-month period given to social media intermediaries for compliance. Since, India is a huge revenue generator for Social Media firms, government says that many countries have their own policies for these entities than why not India. This end-to-end encryption is the USP for many social media or communication companies.
