Donald Trump's ambassador to Britain has said the UK "must use all your assets" when it comes to energy. In an interview with The Times, billionaire banker and art collector Warren Stephens discussed the North Sea and the importance of an energy mix. "You still have enormous fossil fuel potential not only in the North Sea, but there are big shale fields on shore in Lincolnshire. And you buy gas from Norway and they get it from the North Sea. Regarding farmers having to pay inheritance tax, he said: “That would be very unpopular if you had to pay inheritance tax on your land in the US.

The United Kingdom’s Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is about to issue guidelines banning transgender people from single-sex facilities—and, in some cases, even those that match their sex assigned at birth, The Advocate noted, citing The Times. The commission’s guidance is reportedly in compliance with the nation’s recent Supreme Court ruling that stated, in essence, that trans women are not women. The policy will impact trans people’s access to restrooms or changing rooms regarding facilities that provide public services, including schools, hospital wards, domestic-violence shelters, prisons and some stores, among other places. The regulations also said that a trans person could be barred from spaces that do match their biological sex, claiming that “a legitimate aim for excluding a trans person from a separate or single-sex service for their own biological sex might be to prevent alarm or distress for other service users.”Stonewall Scotland condemned the EHRC’s guidance in a statement released soon after the policy was first proposed, saying that it “risks encouraging organizations to implement blanket exclusionary policies, which will impact on trans people’s rights to non-discrimination in enjoyment of their human rights and may open up litigation risks.”In April, UK Department of Education’s Minister for Women and Equalities Bridget Phillipson said that trans women should use bathrooms that correspond with their gender assigned at birth; however, she stopped short of explicitly saying that trans women should use men’s restrooms, according to Them.

Ministers are now facing allegations that they misled Parliament with a controversial 'accountancy trick''SHORT CHANGED' Britain’s Chagos Islands handover will cost taxpayers ten times more than Keir Starmer said it wouldBRITAIN’S Chagos Islands handover will cost taxpayers ten times more than Sir Keir Starmer let on, newly unearthed figures claim. Official estimates reveal the bill for giving the British Indian Ocean Territory to Mauritius is not £3.4billion as promised, but actually close to £35billion. Britain is to hand over sovereignty of the British Indian Ocean Territory while paying billions of pounds to continue using the Diego Garcia base, a key military facility used by Britain and the United States. Back in February, Sir Keir Starmer dismissed Tory warnings of a £30billion cost and branded a £9bn to £18bn estimate “absolutely wide of the mark”. "The costs compare favourably with other international base agreements, and the UK-US base on Diego Garcia is larger, in a more strategic location.”Starmer signs deal with Mauritius to hand over Chagos Islands

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has said she supports the plans to bring in compulsory eye tests for drivers over 70. "I think we need to make sure that people driving on our roads and using our streets are safe," she said. Following the inquest, a source close to the transport secretary told the BBC the government accepted that the rules "need to be reassessed". Now, a new requirement being prepared by the transport secretary could make eye tests for the over-70s compulsory when they renew their driving licence every three years. He says he has glaucoma and has reported it to the DVLA but that he has not stopped driving.
