President Volodymyr Zelensky’s anticorruption policies have already provoked Ukraine’s first antigovernment protests since the Russian invasion in 2022. Now, it seems, they may cost the country a portion of its foreign aid from the European Union, in a clear rebuke from the bloc, once a staunch ally. The decision is not final, however, and the funding can be restored if Ukraine meets certain benchmarks. While holding back Western aid to spur reform was common before Russia’s invasion, Friday’s decision seemed to signal a new willingness by the bloc to admonish Mr. Zelensky’s government on domestic policy during the war. It also raised questions about whether the glow around Mr. Zelensky might be beginning to dim among Ukraine’s Western allies.

“King of the Hill,” co-created by Judge (“Beavis and Butthead,” “Silicon Valley”) and future “The Office” czar Greg Daniels, has been off the air for 15 years. Much of what’s been altered about “King of the Hill,” however, lies outside the creative team’s direct control. But the most enjoyable aspects of “King of the Hill” are arguably timeless. Divorced sad sack Bill (Stephen Root) is so depressed by Hank’s absence he’s become an overweight shut-in; in just a couple episodes, he’s back to sipping alley beers in his stained undershirt. All 10 episodes of “King of the Hill” Season 14 will be available to stream on Hulu on August 4.

NEARLY seven million unsuspecting Brits have had drugs slipped into their drink as “spiking” hits epidemic levels. "Several of my close friends have had their drinks spiked, both in the UK and abroad, and there’s lots of cases where boys are spiked for pranks. Children as young as 11 are even being targeted with drugs including ketamine, Rohypnol, MDMA and gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB). And in West Yorks, cops had reports of 444 drink spiking incidents last year, compared to 143 in 2019. Drink spiking is the most common method, but drugs have also been added to vapes and food.

On a sunny June morning nine years ago, Donald J. Trump arrived at his golf resort in Scotland, the day after Britain voted to leave the European Union. On Friday, a second-term President Trump returned to that resort, Trump Turnberry, with a good part of what he said in 2016 now a reality. He had correctly claimed that the political forces that drove Brexit went beyond a single country. Five months after that visit, Mr. Trump captured the White House, having played to anxieties about immigration in ways that echoed the “Vote Leave” campaign. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has made mending relations with the European Union one of the priorities of his Labour government.

“The humanitarian catastrophe that we are witnessing in Gaza must end now,” the governments of Britain, France and Germany said in a joint statement on Friday. The severity of the humanitarian crisis over 21 months of grinding war has led some Western nations once sympathetic to Israel’s actions in Gaza to shift their stance toward the entrenched conflict. On Thursday, France said it would soon recognize an independent State of Palestine, adding its name to a growing list of European countries to do so. Nearly one in three people in the territory is not eating for days at a time, according to the United Nations’ World Food Program. The Gaza health authorities say that acute malnutrition is rising and that children have died.

Donald Trump enjoys golf weekend in Scotland, while hundreds protest across UK; calls president 'unwelcome'President Donald Trump spent Saturday on the golf course at his Scottish resort while hundreds of protesters took to the streets across the United Kingdom, denouncing his visit and criticizing British leaders for accommodating the American president.Trump played golf alongside his son Eric and US Ambassador to Britain Warren Stephens at Turnberry course along Scotland's coast. The Trump Organization acquired the historic golf resort in 2008, making it a centerpiece of the family's international property portfolio. The president's weekend golf session comes as he prepares for high-level diplomatic meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to discuss trade relations.Edinburgh saw hundreds of protesters gathered on cobblestone streets outside the US Consulate where speakers declared Trump 'unwelcome' and criticized Prime Minister Starmer's recent trade agreement with the United States. The deal, designed to avoid steep US tariffs on British goods, has sparked controversy among opposition groups who view it as capitulation to American pressure.Upon arriving in Scotland Friday night, Trump delivered sharp criticism of European immigration policies, stating, "This immigration is killing Europe. You better get your act together. You're not going to have Europe anymore", reported AP.
