“These guys are going to go for a cap no matter what it takes,” the source said. I think we all knew that owners were going to propose some sort of salary cap to players. In June, owners made this proposal to players, which would have eliminated salary arbitration, given players free agency two years earlier (but with restrictions) and institute a salary cap. It’s worth reading the New York Times article I linked in that quote, which lays out details of what MLB owners were proposing at the time. There is absolutely no question that MLB owners will lock out players when the CBA expires on Dec. 1.

Wunmi Mosaku is missing Greggs. Her performance as Annie, a Hoodoo priestess in Ryan Coogler’s vampire thriller Sinners, has made her an outside bet for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Despite her success, Mosaku remains candid about the hurdles she faced in the UK. “Teachers make you either bloom or shrivel away.”It was director Ryan Coogler who finally gave her the space to bloom. While preparing for Sinners, Mosaku delved into Hoodoo and her own Yoruba roots, a culture she felt she had to suppress to “fit in” while growing up in Manchester.

A Royal Borough board has approved a 10-year health and wellbeing strategy which looks to support those living in ‘pockets of deprivation’ across Windsor and Maidenhead. The health and wellbeing strategy was put together in collaboration between the Royal Borough, the NHS and partners in the community and voluntary sector. At a Royal Borough health and wellbeing board meeting on Monday (January 19), councillors discussed the outcomes of the consultation and decided to approve the new strategy. Ellen Gavin, the council’s public health service lead, told the Town Hall meeting: “When looking at RBWM, overall, we look like we’re doing quite well. “I think this [health strategy] is such an apolitical thing that we’re doing.

Man City's humiliating defeat exposes fundamental flaw of the Champions LeagueManchester City were stunned by Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League and have struggled in recent games but the relatively new Champions League format still gives them plenty of hopeView 3 Images Manchester City may have bene humiliated - but it will ultimately count for little (Image: )Manchester City’s defeat in the Arctic Circle should have been a result that froze European football in its tracks. A squad with a market value of under £50million beats a squad with a market value of well over £1billion. And this coming on the back of one of City’s worst Premier League performances in recent memory. It is certainly not stretching matters to see City’s current run of form as a crisis. They have won only two of their past seven matches, one of those victories coming against Exeter City, a League One mid-table team.

Michael Carrick and Jadon Sancho interactJadon Sancho has previously revealed his opinion of Manchester United interim boss Michael Carrick during a private chat. Carrick took charge as United's caretaker boss last week for the remainder of the campaign, stepping in after Ruben Amorim's dismissal. Among his squad during that brief spell was the recently-acquired Sancho, who had joined for £73million the preceding summer. It remains uncertain whether Carrick will contemplate offering the England international another opportunity, having previously lauded his abilities. NIGEL Farage broke MP sleaze rules 17 times by failing to declare £380,000 of income on time. In his report, Mr Greenberg said Mr Farage had apologised and vowed to be a stickler for parliamentary procedures in future. The Reform chief was found to have repeatedly failed to declare a string of payments within the required time frame. In a letter to the sleaze-buster, Mr Farage insisted he was “sincerely sorry” for the late declarations and there was “no malicious intent” behind them. “He boasts about making money ‘because I’m Nigel Farage’, raking in millions through various outside jobs.

Dieticians inform us there is very little better for our health than eating ‘five’ fruit and vegetable portions a day. But I do not think this ‘five a day’ theory is anything new. Dad took the whole thing very seriously, renovating a rusty old Fergie tractor to make the process run more smoothly. (Image: Emma Brennan)Dad would very often put surplus courgettes (or marrows, as they rapidly became) by the garden gate for people to ‘help themselves’ to. Emma’s nephew has continued the veg-growing tradition started by her grandparents (Image: Emma Brennan)Did you hate having to eat vegetables when you were young?

Several prominent Republican lawmakers have criticized Trump’s threats to seize the island, and to punish European countries that defend Denmark’s Arctic territory. Sen.
