The names of full-fledged undercover officers — who work deep-cover operations with outlaw biker gangs, terrorist groups or drug cartels — are kept out of department records and are known to only a handful of superiors. The city attorney’s office didn’t respond to an email on Tuesday requesting further comment. But in the recent anonymous court declarations, some officers maintained that publishing the photos had put them in harm’s way. WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump stunned the Pentagon and the broader defense world by nominating Fox News host Pete Hegseth to serve as his defense secretary, tapping someone largely inexperienced and untested on the global stage to take over the world’s largest and most powerful military. The news was met with bewilderment and worry among many in Washington as Trump passed on a number of established national security heavy-hitters and chose an Army National Guard officer well known in conservative circles as a co-host of Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend.”While some Republican lawmakers had a muted response to the announcement, others called his combat experience an asset or said he was “tremendously capable.”Hegseth’s choice could bring sweeping changes to the military. He has made it clear on his show and in interviews that, like Trump, he is opposed to “woke” programs that promote equity and inclusion. He also has questioned the role of women in combat and advocated pardoning service members charged with war crimes.

Over the course of those two years, Nixon won reelection in a historic landslide, mocked journalism and threatened the Washington Post repeatedly. Before Watergate, Nixon had often fantasized with his top aide Roger Ailes about running his own conservative television network. While the 1st Amendment clearly protects the free press, what it cannot do is preserve the public’s trust in the free press. Donald Trump’s return to political power through last week’s election is just the latest byproduct of that failure. That sort of world of distrust and confusion is exactly what Gattuso/Reagan/Murdoch/Ailes had hoped to create, so that criminals like Trump could not be held accountable by a free press as the founders intended.

It’s important to vote for the individual candidates, rather than the parties they are in. In some cases, but the vast majority of my votes were for candidates of one party. I voted one party all down the ballot. I have always voted for one party and likely will continue to do so in the future. I did vote for the other party, but only when a candidate was uncontested.

“The movement to expand gun rights gained further momentum Tuesday as voters returned Donald Trump to the White House,” the story stated. The problem is that many government entities don’t recognize the Second Amendment. Forcing governments to recognize that doesn’t expand rights; it simply ensures the Second Amendment receives the respect it deserves. The Op-Ed continued: “Trump’s election promises to make the burgeoning Second Amendment movement stronger. “Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), however, has built a track record as a gun enthusiast and Second Amendment absolutist whose views may prove influential,” it stated.

On Tuesday, a man drove a vehicle into a crowd in Zhuhai in Southern China, killing at least 35 people. The incident seems to be intentional, and is sparking questions about the Communist Party’s record on public safety. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered an increase in safety and social stability following the attack. The driver was a 62-year-old man, and he drove a small vehicle into a sports center where civilians were exercising. Under the Communist Party, citizens have accepted expanded surveillance in exchange for social stability.

The U.S. will continue to send arms to Israel although Israel has not improved humanitarian aid access in Gaza. The Biden administration had set a 30-day deadline for Israel to meet its aid criteria, which Israel failed to do. However, the State Department said that it will not decrease weapons aid. On October 13, U.S. officials stated that the country would reassess military aid sent to Israel if Israel did not increase aid access in Gaza. By law, if military forces are deemed to be committing “gross violations of human rights” the U.S. cannot supply aid.

Three members of the paper’s editorial board resigned, scores of staffers openly protested, and thousands of readers cancelled their subscriptions as the Times was thrust into an uncomfortable spotlight. A new Editorial Board. After news of the Times’ non-endorsement broke last month, Soon-Shiong’s 31-year-olddaughter, Nika, told The New York Times that “our family made the joint decision” over Harris’ stance on the war in Gaza. As with the Times, the decision was handed down by the publication’s billionaire owner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, igniting a firestorm of controversy. Asked about whether the backlash over his decision not to endorse had been a “disaster” for the paper, Soon-Shiong pushed back.

My Own Mother Illegally Immigrated To The U.S. Then I Became A Prosecutor At ICE. I was still waiting for my bar exam results but dreamed of becoming an immigration judge. My mother was thrilled, thanking “Divino Niño Jesús,” whom she credited for “such a blessing.”My brother was less excited. My mother crossed through the southern U.S. border without a visa but became a lawful permanent resident before I was born. I resigned from ICE in early 2023 because immigration law is ill-equipped to handle the complexities of modern families.

Jason Sudeikis in the final season of Ted Lasso AppleJason Sudeikis is absolutely not here for certain Ted Lasso fans’ less-than-enthusastic reviews of the award-winning show’s most recent season. The third series of Ted Lasso premiered on Apple TV+ in 2022, and proved to be the most divisive of the show’s otherwise-acclaimed run. AdvertisementAs reported by TVLine, Jason was asked about the suggestion that season three’s storylines were “unfocused” and the cast were “scattered” across too many plots in the new book Believe: The Untold Story Behind Ted Lasso, The Show That Kicked Its Way Into Our Hearts. “Much like live theatre, the show, especially season three, was asking the audience to be an active participant,” Jason responded. The cast and crew have remained tight-lipped about these rumours, although many of them have made no secret of their hopes to return to the world of Ted Lasso in the future.

Jimmy Kimmel isn’t impressed with President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks so far. But one of those selections left him absolutely baffled: Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for secretary of state. Rubio has since become a staunch Trump defender, and the president-elect has rewarded him for that fealty with a plum administration post. That led Kimmel to introduce a surprise guest... sort of. “While it’s disappointing that a tough Trump critic like Marco Rubio would humiliate himself for a position of power, to his credit he did agree to talk to us,” Kimmel said.
