HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam-Russia oil and gas joint venture Vietsovpetro has recently sent a proposal to the Việt Nam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) regarding the expansion of its operating area. Specifically, Vietsovpetro proposed Petrovietnam accelerate development plans for Blocks 09-2/09, 16-1/15, and 09-2/10, and ask the relevant authorities to approve Vietsovpetro's involvement in potential projects such as Blocks 17 and 05-2/10, while adopting Vietsovpetro's investment plans for new blocks. The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham Vietnam) recently submitted a letter to Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, proposing all 27 EU member countries to be included in Vietnam’s visitor visa exemption list. HCM CITY — HCM City Police are set to inspect all accommodation rented to foreigners to ensure their landlords comply with regulations related to reporting foreign residents. The month-long inspection from August 1 follows a spate of crimes committed in the city by foreigners. The police said failure to report foreigners staying in their premises by landlords poses the risk of crimes. The city is home to some 100,000 foreigners, the largest of any city or province in the country.
