The province is believed to have what it takes to expand organic farming as it is home to more than 40,000 hectares of agricultural areas cultivated under the “Fragrant rice – Clean shrimp” production model that applies organic practices. Ba Dinh Cooperative in Vinh Loc A commune in Hong Dan district is among the pioneers of organic rice farming. All members of the cooperative have adopted the integrated rice-shrimp farming model, said its director Nong Van Thach, adding that they focus specially on organic practices for rice cultivation.

Production of yogurt at a dairy cow farming cooperative in Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc. According to the Vietnam Dairy Association, the dairy industry generated more than 119.38 trillion VND (5.14 billion USD) in revenue last year, up around 5 percent from 2020. The dairy cow farming industry is thriving with annual productivity averaging 5,300 kg of milk per cow. Vietnam is staying ahead of its regional peers in industrialisation of livestock and dairy farming, he added. There is large room for the dairy farming sector to grow further in Vietnam, said Assoc.

According to the General Statistics Office, international arrivals to Vietnam reached 172,900, a month-on-month rise of over 70 percent. For the January-May period, Vietnam welcomed a total of 365,300 international arrivals, 4.5 times higher than the same period last year but 95 percent lower than the same period of 2019, when COVID-19 restrictions were not in place. Data from Google showed that there were rapid increases in the search volume for holidays in Vietnam, making the country one of the most-searched destinations since international tourism was reopened on March 15. Searches for airlines to Vietnam increased drastically, by 800 percent as of mid-April over the same period last year. Searches for hotels in Vietnam increased by 114 percent.

(Photo: VNA)Minister Counsellor Le Thi Minh Thoa, Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN (Photo: dangcongsan.vn)– A Vietnam representative affirmed the country's commitment to promote the rights of the persons with disabilities (PwDs) while attending a meeting held in New York on June 14 - 16.Addressing the 15th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), Minister Counsellor Le Thi Minh Thoa, Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, affirmed that the country has always attached importance to promoting and protecting the rights and interests of PwDs in the principles of equality and non-discrimination. It has also mainstreamed PwD-related issues in the national development framework.Vietnam has continuously strived to create a favourable environment for PwDs to not only enjoy benefits but also have opportunities to take part in the decision making and contribute to social development, she noted.According to the diplomat, the country’s ratification of the CRPD and the International Labour Organisation ( ILO ) Convention 159 on vocational rehabilitation and employments for PwDs is a demonstration of its commitment to ensure workers are not discriminated in the workplace.Under the national programme on PwDs for 2021 - 2030, millions of PwDs, including children, have received care at social protection establishments while all persons with special disabilities have been covered with health insurance. Besides, there are 20 educational and integration support centres, 107 special educational centres for disabled children, 256 training establishments for PwDs, and 400 PwD-owned businesses at present.In her remarks, Thoa underlined Vietnam’s pledge to cooperate with the international community to guarantee an equal, inclusive, and sustainable future for all that leaves no one behind.
