At least 20 children have reportedly died due to dehydration and malnutrition in Gaza, with most of those dying at hospitals in northern Gaza. In some places, you can have an 80 or 85 percent success rate in treating children with severe acute malnutrition. There are some items — not the nutrition items, but sometimes medical supplies and sometimes water supplies — we call them dual-use items. It would definitely reduce the number of children who are malnourished and prevent them from getting sick and from eventually dying. And some specialized supplies like vaccines and food items for the children, especially a specific type of milk powder, have to be temperature-controlled.

IDC reported smartphone shipments in Africa were up 12 per cent year-on-year in Q4 2023 to 19.8 million units, due in part to strong uptake of low-end Chinese brands across the region. In contrast, IDC stated Africa’s feature phone market shipments decreased 7.8 per cent over the same timeframe to total 20.9 million units. IDC noted Transsion devices continued to dominate Africa’s smartphone market through low-end devices that cost $100. For 2024, the research company forecast year over year growth in smartphone shipments of 2.8 per cent. “However, in Africa, the transition from feature phones will support smartphone growth in the short and medium term, while AI phones and 5G adoption will fuel Africa’s smartphones growth in the long term”.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. The deputies and four minor children inside the home with Strawser weren’t hurt, he added. The sheriff’s office said Strawser and the three who were shot knew each other, so it wasn’t a random home invasion. With the house surrounded, sheriff’s office negotiators tried to get Strawser to come out, according to Campbell. Authorities said some of the bullets fired by Strawser hit sheriff’s office vehicles.
