YANG GUANG/XINHUAA fierce rivalry between the forces of peaceful development and those of turmoil dominated the Middle East landscape in 2025. Yet, amid this turbulence, a new security architecture is beginning to take shape in the Middle East. Regional countries are exercising greater strategic autonomy while engaging with multilateral diplomacy to forge a new regional order. The Middle East has witnessed intense confrontation in recent years, particularly between the Iran-led regional forces and the US-Israel alliance. Meanwhile, Brussels rolled out a range of policies on West Asia and North Africa, signaling its attempt to reengage with the Middle East.

According to the researchers, globally, more than 70 percent of people have brown eyes, particularly across Africa, East Asia, and South Asia. Blue eyes are concentrated primarily in northern and eastern Europe, while green eyes occur in approximately 2 percent of the world population. Because absorption dominates over scattering, brown eyes appear consistently brown. Blue eyes are thought to trace back to a single genetic mutation that occurred between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago in Europe. Green eyes are rare because they require a narrow biological balance that occurs infrequently in human populations.

After several years of economic strain, Tunisia showed signs of gradual stabilization over the past 24 months. In 2025, Tunisia recorded measurable improvements across several macroeconomic indicators. Economic growth reached 2.4% over the first nine months of the year, with full-year growth projected at approximately 2.6%, compared with 1.4% in 2024. The recovery coincided with declines in both unemployment and inflation, suggesting a degree of macroeconomic stabilization despite continued uncertainty in the global environment. Whether these objectives can be achieved will depend on the country’s ability to sustain sectoral momentum, attract consistent investment, and convert macroeconomic stabilization into durable job creation, particularly for younger segments of the population.

The decision followed a 30-day deadline issued by the Home Office to countries identified as having high numbers of migration offenders. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper instructed UK diplomats to pursue a more transactional approach to migration cooperation as part of broader foreign policy coordination. The migration measures coincide with wider changes to the UK immigration system. Companies with verified African operations and LSE listings include Airtel Africa, Helios Towers, Seplat Energy, Endeavour Mining, Pan African Resources and Standard Chartered. Many of these firms are included in the FTSE UK Listed Africa Index, which tracks companies generating at least half of their revenues or assets from African markets.

There were some moments of silence before the game for former Ivory Coast coach Jean-Louis Gasset, who died last week. Zidane watched again and Riyad Mahrez scored again as Algeria reached the last 16 with a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso. The team went out after the group stage in both subsequent editions after winning the 2019 title in Egypt. Zidane’s son Luca did not have much to do in the Algeria goal until he was tested by Lassina Traoré in the 83rd. ShareCLEVELAND (AP) — Myles Garrett has said throughout another disappointing season by the Cleveland Browns that getting a win took on greater importance than breaking the NFL’s single-season sack record. Not only did Cleveland’s 13-6 victory over Pittsburgh on Sunday snap a four-game losing streak and allow the team to eclipse its win total from last season, it prevented the Steelers from clinching the AFC North. “I have full confidence we’ll go home and win next week,” said Aaron Rodgers, who was 21 of 39 passing for 168 yards. It is the first time since Dec. 10, 2009, that the Browns (4-12) defeated the Steelers and held them without a touchdown. JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Three people, including a one-year-old child, died when a two-story building collapsed in South Africa's Soweto township, west of Johannesburg, in the early hours of Sunday morning, authorities said. According to authorities, a total of six people were inside the building when it collapsed and emergency personnel rescued the three people injured who were trapped under the rubble. The incident has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation,” said Xolile Khumalo, spokesperson for Johannesburg Emergency Management Services. (Photo by Christophe SIMON / AFP)Marseille forward Mason Greenwood has backed Nigeria and Morocco to reach the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, PUNCH Sports Extra reports. “(Nigeria) and I’ll probably say Morocco. They’ve obviously done well in the previous World Cup, and they’ve got a strong team,” Greenwood said. Despite the setback, Morocco have extended their unbeaten run to 22 matches dating back to their round of 16 exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Morocco will need to secure qualification from Group A before they can think about reaching the final Greenwood has predicted for them.

Saudi Arabia’s Impact46 led a $1 million investment round in Hypemasters, an international game development studio focused on competitive strategy experiences for mobile. UAE-based Relik has closed a seed funding round with participation from KBW Ventures, Naatt Holding, Fort Holding, and Ayman Sejiny. Announced at the African Startup Conference in December, the transaction is Algeria’s largest startup funding round in local currency and marks the first exit of the Algerian Startup Fund.
