CAIRO – 24 May 2022: The United Kingdom plans to undergo official talks with Greece regarding the possible return of the Parthenon Marbles, which have been in the British Museum since 1816. The disputed sculptures were stripped from the Acropolis in 1801 by Lord Elgin, and were deposited at the London Foundation. In March 2022, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson reiterated that his government had no plans to move the ancient marbles out of England. In September 2021, UNESCO's advisory board called on the UK to "reconsider its position and move forward in an honest dialogue with Greece". The British Parliament said that because the museum operates independently of the British government and can make decisions about the works in its collections, it must decide the fate of the Parthenon Marbles.

CAIRO - 24 May 2022: The Sovereign Fund of Egypt is currently studying 21 projects for investment in 2022 in 6 different sectors: telecommunications, utilities and infrastructure, and health services. pharmaceutical industries, agriculture and food industries, tourism and real estate investment, in addition to a number of other sectors. This statement came during the statements of the Fund’s Chief Executive Director (CEO) Ayman Soliman in a meeting with the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli in the presence of the Planning Minister Hala El-Said and other officials. During the meeting, the Minister of Planning indicated that one of the most important goals for which the Sovereign Fund of Fund was established is to attract investments from regional and international investors and contribute to increasing the participation of the private sector. The minister added that, despite this, Egypt remains one of the promising markets and the focus of international investors' attention, which reflects investors' confidence in the Egyptian economy and the economic reform program.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said on Tuesday that Egypt reiterates its full commitment, as an effective World Health Organization (WHO) member, to working with the member states, technical secretariat and international partners to study all proposed paths that contribute to achieving the higher values and activating the “One Health” approach. Speaking during the 75th World Health Assembly (WHA-75) of the WHO, currently in session in Geneva, the minister expressed Egypt’s appreciation of efforts exerted by the WHO and its workers to support countries amid the Coronavirus pandemic. He affirmed the importance of coordination among the world’s countries to address all public health issues that raise international concerns, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said. Highlighting Egypt’s response to the Covid pandemic, the minister said the Health Ministry’s plan depended on implementing all precautionary measures in line with a comprehensive vaccination plan. Egypt continues implementing its strategic projects, topped by the presidential "100 million healthy lives" initiative, Abdel Ghaffar said, highlighting the country’s efforts to continue stimulating local production of vaccines and medical supplies

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, said that there are no positive cases of monkeypox in Egypt. During a Monday telephone interview with the “Masaa dmc” on dmc channel Abdel-Ghaffar stressed that the Ministry of Health and Population is following the global epidemiological situation very carefully. Abdul-Ghaffar said that the transmission of chickenpox from human to human is not easy, as this occurs through prolonged close and direct contact. Abdel-Ghaffar confirmed that regular chickenpox vaccinations proved to be 85 percent effective with monkeypox. He stressed that the monkeypox virus mutation is very weak, noting that “the precautionary measures from it are the same as those used in coronavirus.”

That is because there are 64 private companies that have submitted offers to partner up with the government in executing wastewater projects. CAIRO – 23 May 2022: Cairo Criminal Court sentenced on Monday Mohamed Al-Amin, a renowned Egyptian businessman, to three years in prison over human trafficking charges. The court’s rigorous imprisonment ruling against Amin is not final and therefore can be appealed. Amin was referred to the court after he was charged by the prosecution of committing acts that are punishable by law against a number of girls at the orphanage he founded in Beni Suef. The statement added that he exploited their weakness, threatening to expel them from the orphanage if they reported him. The statement revealed that the eyewitnesses included the girls in the orphanage, officials at the social solidarity ministry and the admin of Missing Children Facebook page.

CAIRO – 23 May 2022: Humans have known sleep on soft pillows 2000 years ago, but the ancient Egyptians used to rest their heads on pillows made of stone. The ancient Egyptian pillow stand, commonly called the headrest, was designed to keep the head elevated while sleeping. It usually consists of a flat base and then a concave section on its upper side to rest the head. Egyptian stone pillows served more than just practical application. Stone headrests were often engraved with protective images, such as that of the deity Bes, a deity who protected sleeping people with its fearsome appearance that drove out evil.

Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea, held talks on Sunday with the regional CEO of Procter & Gamble International for Egypt and North Africa Samir Lebbar about the company’s current and future investment plans in the Egyptian market. The meeting also reviewed aspects of cooperation to maximize the company’s role in the Egyptian economy. Coordination is currently underway to organize other missions to a number of West African countries. Lebbar said that his company is committed to deepening local manufacturing and increasing Egyptian exports to global markets in general and the markets of Africa in particular. Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb on Sunday received Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Egypt Osama Nugali, at the headquarters of the Al-Azhar sheikhdom to discuss various issues of common interest. Tayyeb said during the meeting that “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia occupies a great place in the hearts of Egyptians, Arabs and Muslims in all countries, and Azhar appreciates what the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the Kingdom is doing in serving the issues of the Arab and Islamic nation.”He expressed his appreciation for the great efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve pilgrims, and the keenness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to provide all the necessary support. For his part, the Saudi ambassador expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Grand Sheikh and Al-Azhar al-Sharif in serving the nation’s issues and for his prominent religious and educational role. Nugali said that the Saudi-Egyptian relations are characterized by a special nature and that Al-Azhar has an authentic role in spreading Islamic and Arabic sciences, and its positions are always present and witness to its moderation and its keenness on national unity, solidarity and stability.

CAIRO – 22 May 2022: Egypt studies hosting the Expo 2035 in the new administrative capital, which will be officially opened soon, officials told local media. The World Expo has been held since the mid-19th century, every five years, and lasts for a maximum period of 6 months. The last edition [Expo 2020] was held in Dubai last year as the world exhibition was postponed for a year due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Egyptian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai has witnessed a huge turnout, according to Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea, noting that the pavilion has received more than 1.5 million visitors from various world countries. The BIE is opening the window of bids for the countries that eye hosting Expo 2030 until September 7.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed on Saturday that the government is fully responsible for controlling prices. “We, as a state responsible for keeping the prices of products under control as much as possible until the end of this year,” he said. The president also ordered to study the establishment of markets within the Cairo and Giza range with the aim of controlling prices. The President directed the completion of the phases of Future of Egypt Project for Agricultural Production before the end of 2023. The president stressed the state’s ability to provide the necessary seeds for wheat cultivation, in a way that would achieve the greatest benefit for farmers.
