The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled al-Anany said that his ministry is working to support and encourage responsible and sustainable eco-tourism, in line with new global trends of tourism. The ministry is in the process of launching a mobile application to promote tourism. Anany held a number of media meetings during his participation in the activities of the World Travel Market 2021 (WTM) in the British capital, London. Anany said that the ministry is about to launch the mobile application to promote Egyptian tourist hotspot destinations locally and globally which will be a great help to tourists. With rich and diverse, natural, archaeological resources and components, Egypt is well prepared to receive tourists from various countries of the world.

The official expressed her pleasure at Luxor’s hosting of the Global Observance of the World Cities Day for this year. She highlighted Egypt’s powerful program launched in 2014 to move towards new and renewable energy, noting that cities shall be re-planned and re-managed in a way that guarantees their sustainability. President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi headed Sunday to the United Kingdom to attend the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26 summit) held in Glasgow on October 31-November 12. Spokesperson of the Presidency Bassam Rady stated that the president will focus on climate change topics relevant to developing countries in general, and to African states in specific.

CAIRO – 1 November 2021: The Egyptian and US naval forces have conducted joint naval drills in the joint drill in the Southern Fleet in the Red Sea with the participation of the Egyptian frigate “Alexandria” and the American cruiser (USS Portland)The drills come within the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces' efforts to enhance of military relations and exchange of expertise with different countries. The trainings showed the professionality of crews in implementing the combat skills with high accuracy with a special emphasis on joint coordination among various elements. Last March, The Egyptian and American naval forces held joint exercises in the Red Sea. The drills included Egypt's "Sharm El Sheikh" frigate, and the United States' amphibious warfare ship dubbed USS SOMERSET-LPD25. The exercises consisted of a number of naval combat activities such as repelling atypical threats, analyzing the situation on the surface, air, below the surface, and electronic levels as well as other transportation and security measures in the Red Sea.

Egypt will start applying a minimum accommodation fee in hotel establishments starting November 1, the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry announced in a statement on Sunday. The step comes as part of efforts to raise the quality of Egypt’s tourist services . According to this decision, the minimum fee for accommodation service (of any kind) per person per night in five-star hotel establishments is US$40 or its equivalent, and $28 or its equivalent in four-star hotels. The decision comes in parallel with procedures for re-evaluating hotel establishments in accordance with the new classification standards “Hospitality Criteria”, developed jointly with the World Tourism Organization bring the classification of Egyptian hotels to the level of its international counterparts. The ministry added it is currently evaluating floating hotel facilities in the governorates of Luxor and Aswan, and will continue the process in the rest of the governorates.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed on Saturday that all foreign forces, in addition to foreign fighters and mercenaries, must exit Libyan territory in order to bring peace and stability. This came during Shoukry’s reception to the Vice-President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, and his accompanying delegation. Shoukry also reiterated Egypt’s full support for Libya as an independent and sovereign state over its entire national territory. Egypt supports the steady steps taking place in Libya to fulfill the political roadmap approved by Libyans, he said, leading to holding the presidential and parliamentary elections on their scheduled date. Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday reported 948 new coronavirus cases, 57 deaths, and 390 recoveries. A total of 330,084 cases have been disclosed in Egypt, alongside 18,592 deaths and 277,623 recoveries. Moreover, the Health Ministry has stated that official figures likely only represent 10 percent of actual cases. According to World Health organization data, as of October 23, Egypt has administered 25,083,832 vaccine doses. The Djiboutian Minister of Health, Ahmed Robleh met with the Egyptian Ambassador to Djibouti Hossam Eddin Reda to discuss cooperation between the two countries in health affairs, especially the agreement to establish an Egyptian hospital in Djibouti. Robleh and Rida also discussed support provided by the Egyptian side to the health sector in Djibouti. Reda stressed the importance of encouraging Djiboutian citizens to travel to Egypt to receive treatment, and referred to its highly qualified medical and nursing cadres on top of a highly advanced health infrastructure. The Egyptian ambassador also stressed Egypt’s openness to cooperate with Djibouti in energy and communications sectors, which the Djiboutian government holds a special priority. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made the first visit of an Egyptian president to Djibouti in May.

In a statement, Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said 52 coronavirus-linked deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide death toll to 18,535. As many as 432 cases were discharged from hospitals after receiving the necessary medical care, pushing the total number of recoveries to 277,233, the spokesman added. Assistant Health Minister Khaled Megahed asserted the importance of continuous cooperation with the international organizations to stand against the coronavirus pandemic and provide the vaccine for the citizens.
