CAIRO – 1 November 2021: The Egyptian and US naval forces have conducted joint naval drills in the joint drill in the Southern Fleet in the Red Sea with the participation of the Egyptian frigate “Alexandria” and the American cruiser (USS Portland)The drills come within the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces' efforts to enhance of military relations and exchange of expertise with different countries. The trainings showed the professionality of crews in implementing the combat skills with high accuracy with a special emphasis on joint coordination among various elements. Last March, The Egyptian and American naval forces held joint exercises in the Red Sea. The drills included Egypt's "Sharm El Sheikh" frigate, and the United States' amphibious warfare ship dubbed USS SOMERSET-LPD25. The exercises consisted of a number of naval combat activities such as repelling atypical threats, analyzing the situation on the surface, air, below the surface, and electronic levels as well as other transportation and security measures in the Red Sea.

Egypt will start applying a minimum accommodation fee in hotel establishments starting November 1, the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry announced in a statement on Sunday. The step comes as part of efforts to raise the quality of Egypt’s tourist services . According to this decision, the minimum fee for accommodation service (of any kind) per person per night in five-star hotel establishments is US$40 or its equivalent, and $28 or its equivalent in four-star hotels. The decision comes in parallel with procedures for re-evaluating hotel establishments in accordance with the new classification standards “Hospitality Criteria”, developed jointly with the World Tourism Organization bring the classification of Egyptian hotels to the level of its international counterparts. The ministry added it is currently evaluating floating hotel facilities in the governorates of Luxor and Aswan, and will continue the process in the rest of the governorates.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed on Saturday that all foreign forces, in addition to foreign fighters and mercenaries, must exit Libyan territory in order to bring peace and stability. This came during Shoukry’s reception to the Vice-President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, and his accompanying delegation. Shoukry also reiterated Egypt’s full support for Libya as an independent and sovereign state over its entire national territory. Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday reported 948 new coronavirus cases, 57 deaths, and 390 recoveries. A total of 330,084 cases have been disclosed in Egypt, alongside 18,592 deaths and 277,623 recoveries. The Djiboutian Minister of Health, Ahmed Robleh met with the Egyptian Ambassador to Djibouti Hossam Eddin Reda to discuss cooperation between the two countries in health affairs, especially the agreement to establish an Egyptian hospital in Djibouti. Assistant Health Minister Khaled Megahed asserted the importance of continuous cooperation with the international organizations to stand against the coronavirus pandemic and provide the vaccine for the citizens.
