(Reuters) – Vladimir Petkovic has left his job as Switzerland coach to take over at Girondins de Bordeaux, the French Ligue 1 club and Swiss FA said on Tuesday. The 57-year-old Petkovic, who helped guide Switzerland to the quarter-final of the European Championship this month, has signed a three-year contract with the French club. “We are so proud to be able to recruit Vladimir,” club president Gerard Lopez said in a statement. “He has the perfect profile to join a long-term project with the club. “We are sad that Vladimir Petkovic is leaving us, but we are very grateful to Vlado for the extremely good and successful seven years he has given us as a national coach,” Swiss FA president Dominique Blanc said in a statement.

Egypt receives the first vehicle of the monorail train for the Nasr City – New Administrative Capital monorail line at the port of Alexandria, Lieutenant General Kamel al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, announced on Tuesday. Egypt has already received Thursday the signaling systems for the project and will be installed in July. The monorail will serve all commuters from Cairo and Giza to New Cairo, the New Administrative Capital and Nasr City. -Its external structure is made of aluminum, so that the weight of the train decreases and its speed increases. -It has screen doors were installed on the sidewalks in front of the train doors to maintain passenger safety.

CAIRO – 27 July 2021: The first round of the joint Higher Committee’s preparatory meetings at the expert and ministerial levels between Egypt and South Sudan were held on July 27, which is considered the first joint committee to take place since signing the establishment agreement in January 2012. This comes within the framework of strengthening joint economic relations between Egypt and South Sudan, and shows Egypt’s keenness to strengthen economic relations with countries of the African region. The Minister of International Cooperation Rania A. Al-Mashat chaired the coordination meeting at the ministerial level with the participation of several Egyptian and South Sudanese entities. Minister Al-Mashat referred to the Egyptian President’s visit to South Sudan in November 2020 and his directives to advance development efforts and joint relations between both countries. CAIRO – 27 July 2021: Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir announced Tuesday the arrival of the first monorail train – manufactured by Bombardier Inc. which was acquired by Alstom earlier this year - in the Port of Alexandria. That is within a deal to supply 70 trains, consisting of four cars each. That is because "the INNOVIA monorail 300 system is equipped with Bombardier’s proven CITYFLO 650 communications-based train control solution," as indicated on the website of Bombardier. The Giza section of the monorail is executed by a consortium encompassing Arab Contractors and Bombardier Inc. Bombardier Inc. is also part of a consortium with Orascom executing the Cairo section of the monorail.

CAIRO – 27 July 2021: Sixth of October Development and Investment (SODIC) announced the success of its subsidiary SODIC Securitization in completing the first issue of securitization bonds worth LE 343 million. Securitization describes the process of pooling financial assets and turning them into tradable securities. White and Case's office acted as the legal advisor for the transaction, while Hazem Hassan's office acted as the financial auditor of the issue, and the Commercial International Bank acted as the custodian. The company’s total revenues rose during the period to LE 848.57 million, compared to LE 528.98 million during the comparable period of 2020. As for standalone results, the losses of the company declined during the period to LE 44.18 million, compared to losses amounting to LE 79.718 million during the comparative period of 2020.

CAIRO – 27 July 2021: The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Tarek El Molla, witnessed the signing of 4 contracts to search for gold between the Mineral Resources Authority and the Canadian Barrick Gold Corporation, which is the largest of its kind in the world in the production of gold and is ranked second in the world in the activity of searching for gold. The Qasr al-Nil Appeals Court upheld a fine of LE10,000 against a veterinarian charged with sexually harassing actress Zainab Gharib, star of the series “B 100 Wesh” series. Qasr al-Nil Prosecution had referred the suspect to trial before the Misdemeanors Court over accusations of stalking the actress. On June 4, 2014, a new law was passed which criminalizes sexual harassment for the first time in modern Egyptian history. According to the law, verbal, physical, behavioral, phone and online sexual harassment attract a prison sentence of six months to five years, and up to LE50,000 in fines. The Egyptian House of Representatives is currently discussing more tough penalties against crimes of molesting others and sexual harassment.

REUTERS: Toby Alderweireld has completed a permanent move from Tottenham Hotspur to Qatari side Al Duhail, the Premier League club said on Tuesday (Jul 27), bringing an end to the Belgium defender's six-year stay in north London. While no financial details were disclosed, British media reported Al Duhail agreed a deal worth £13 million (US$17.92 million) for the 32-year-old centre back. Alderweireld, who joined Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in July 2015, went on to make 236 appearances for Spurs, forming a solid central defensive partnership with compatriot Jan Vertonghen. Under former manager Mauricio Pochettino, Alderweireld was central to the side that finished second in the Premier League in 2016-17 and made a run to the Champions League final two seasons later. Alderweireld, capped 113 times by Belgium, featured in four games for the national side at Euro 2020, where they were beaten by eventual winners Italy in the quarter-finals.
