CAIRO – 16 July 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued decree no. 298 of 2021 to pardon some inmates on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and the July 23 Revolution anniversary. Last April, Sisi issued a presidential pardon for many prisoners ahead of the Sinai Liberation Day on April 25 and Muslim’s Eid Al-Fitr. Presidential pardons are customary to national and religious occasions. Thousands of prisoners have been released over the past years as per a presidential pardon.

Egyptian actress and singer Ruby clarified that women may wear the veil at her upcoming concert on Friday evening in Egypt’s North Coast, after receiving extensive criticism for the list of conditions for attending the event. According to the list of conditions, wearing a “turban” is allowed, which some considered an indirect ban on the attendance of veiled women. In a story that she posted on her official Instagram account, Ruby explained the misunderstanding regarding the conditions announced by the party’s organizers. According to her, the entry of veiled women is allowed as well as women wearing turbans. The world’s longest and most modern Belgian-made trailer truck will transport King Khufu’s first sun boat from south of the Great Pyramid to the Grand Egyptian Museum. The 96-tire trailer has been placed near the boat in preparation for its movement. The boat is about 4,500 years old and stands at 43 meters long and almost six meters wide. It was discovered by the Egyptian archaeologist and journalist writer Kamal al-Malakh in 1954 AD. There have been rumors that a ceremony as grand as the transfer of the mummies to the new Museum of National Egyptian Civilization will be planned for the boat’s transfer.

Hana Gouda, a player from the table tennis team, will participate in the Tokyo Summer Olympics, which will be held from July 23 to August 8. Abdel-Aty reviewed the developments of the Nile water issue and issue of the GERD with DRC Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde , stressing Egypt’s keenness to resume the tripartite negotiations with Sudan and Ethiopia to reach a just and legally binding agreement for the three countries, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. It was not immediately clear how many people were on board the aircraft but estimates range from 13-17 passengers. Egypt’s Health Ministry on Thursday confirmed 81 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total number of confirmed cases up to 283,490. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 16,425 nationwide, after the ministry announced seven deaths. And 986 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising Egypt’s total number of fully recovered cases to 221,516.
