CAIRO – 25 July 2021: An Egyptian court ruled on Sunday to notify International Interpol to arrest Egyptian fugitive contractor Mohamed Ali and two other aides. The terrorism court held at the Tora prison complex ruled to notify the International Interpol to quickly arrest Ali and 2 others after being charged with inciting violence, publishing false news, and joining the banned group of the Muslim Brotherhood. The fugitives are charged with publishing false news about the economic situation in the country, with the intent of disturbing public order. Ali has first fled to Spain where he posted videos criticizing the regime starting September 2019 and later moved to the United Kingdom. In November 2019, the Public Prosecution referred Ali to a criminal court on charges of VAT evasion two weeks after he was sentenced to five years in prison by the Tax Evasion Misdemeanor Court.

The Egyptian Cabinet’s Media Center on Sunday denied rumors spread online claiming that the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir would be demolished after the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). It stressed that the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir is one of the most important and famous archaeological buildings in the world, and can never be harmed. The Egyptian government announced in June 2019 the start of a project to develop the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir at a cost of 3.1 million euros. The participating museums are: the Egyptian Museum in Turin, Italy, the Louvre Museum in France, the British Museum in England, the Egyptian Museum in Berlin, Germany, the national archaeological museum of the Netherlands, in Leiden. A file for the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir will be prepared for submission to UNESCO for inclusion in the list of world heritage sites.

Egypt’s Health Ministry on Saturday confirmed 38 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 283,985. CAIRO – 25 July 2021: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, is set to issue LE 22 billion in treasury bills and bonds on Sunday, July 25. The T-bills were offered in two installments, with the first valued at LE 5.5 billion with a 182-day term, and the second worth LE 14.5 billion with a 364-day term. As for T-bonds, the CBE offers them at LE 2 billion with a 7-year term. For the current fiscal year, the budget deficit is estimated to record 6.6 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), planned by the ministry to be financed through treasury bills and bonds and through international and Arab loans. The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) decided Thursday, June 17, to keep the overnight deposit rate, overnight lending rate, and the rate of the main operation unchanged at 8.25 percent, 9.25 percent, and 8.75 percent, respectively.
