Leafs look to hand Sabres 8th straight loss: Leafs TailgatePhoto credit: Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY SportsThe Buffalo Sabres (7-10-0) have escaped the snow and made their way down the QEW to tangle with the Maple Leafs (9-5-4) tonight at Scotiabank Arena. Last season was a perfect indication of that as the Sabres grabbed three of four in the season series. Of course, the Leafs are coming off a hard-fought 3-2 OT loss to the red-hot New Jersey Devils on Thursday night. If the Leafs can jump on them early, it could be nighty night for Buffalo in a hurry. Furthermore, heading into tonight’s game, Buffalo ranks 27th of 32 on the PK (72.2%), so undeniably, the special teams battle will be intriguing to watch in this one.

The city is hardly calm and composed; not even in the middle of the night, or early in the morning. Recently, many people in society have noticed an increasing use of loudspeakers in residential neighbourhoods, which is a disturbing addition to the noise pollution in the city. The sleep deficit made the children grouchy and grumpy, and that made the life of mothers even more frustrating. Mental peace stood destroyed at personal, familial and social levels just because the donation-seekers out on the streets were trying to shout louder than the rest. The civic authorities should control such irresponsible use of loudspeakers and ensure that the peace of neighbourhoods remains intact.

I have never been much into fashion, but I never realised what is happening till I came across a video of American comedian-turned-commentator Hasan Minhaj on ‘fast fashion’. I have been thinking about that a lot since the recent floods caused massive destruction in Pakistan. For sure, it is not the only or even a major factor, but I think the surge of fast fashion in Pakistan did play its part in exacerbating the climate change phenomenon, which actually caused excessive rains and the consequent flooding. Apart from the environmental harm, fast fashion is harming us psychologically, too. I think it is time we made sustainable fashion choices while caring for the earth and ourselves.
