The Supreme Court has unanimously decided to halt the increase in gas prices, put forward by the Energy Ministry under Juan José Aranguren, for residential consumers, or homes. In addition, Judges Ricardo Lorenzetti, Carlos Maqueda, Elena Highton de Nolasco and Horacio Rosatti stipulated that policy changes of this nature (such as service hikes) must first be presented to the people through public hearings before being implemented. This is in accordance with Article 42 of the Constitution. When the Federal Court of La Plata ruled to ban gas price increases across the country, the Macri administration appealed the ruling, bringing it to the Supreme Court, which today has supported the Federal Court’s decision. Energy Minister Aranguren appeared on Tuesday before a special committee in Congress to justify the steep increases in utilities, collectively known as the tarifazo, including the increase in gas prices.

Yesterday, the Buenos Aires Provincial Senate approved a bill that limits the number of reelections for mayors, councillors and legislators in the province to one, i.e. This puts an end to the “indefinite reelection” system that encouraged many politicians to remain in power for decades and is still present in other provinces. The initiative affects 135 mayors, 138 legislators, 1,097 councillors and 427 school advisors in the province. FR leader, Sergio Massa, thanked Buenos Aires senators for their courage and celebrated the “end of a paradigm” on Twitter. There are currently four provinces that allow for an indefinite amount of reelections: Formosa, Catamarca, San Luis and Santa Cruz.

Following the Security Ministry’s decision to improve the security of President Mauricio Macri, additional measures are being taken to protect the Casa Rosada and other officials, as threats to their safety continue to be a regular occurrence. Everyone who arrived at the Casa Rosada after the long weekend — yes, even high-ranking officials — found that security procedures to enter the Casa Rosada had changed. This new procedure is a response to a bomb threat the Casa Rosada received last Friday. Other threats also arrived via social media, leading to two men being arrested last month for making threats in the name of ISIS. El Espectador also reports that former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has received threats as well.

Public and private teachers’ unions today announced they will conduct nationwide strikes, following the Macri administration’s refusal to re-open collective bargaining (or salary increases) negotiations. While public school teachers’ union (Ctera), announced their strike for August 24 and will march in different provinces, private school teachers’ union (Sadop), have decided to strike on September 2. Moreover, the union representing public school teachers in Buenos Aires Province (Suteba) — which already went on strike last week — decided to strike again for 48 hours sometime between late August and early September. It’s also important to clarify that the national collective bargaining agreement is not the final salary increase for teachers: each teachers’ union negotiates with its respective province, which actually pays teachers. Public school teachers in Buenos Aires Province, for example, agreed on a 43.6 percent salary increase.

Resting on the corner of Costa Rica and Carranza is Green Bamboo, the restaurant that preceded the countless changes the neighborhood of Palermo has born witness to. Walking into Green Bamboo feels like entering another continent. The plan was never to open a Vietnamese restaurant. Owner Dario Muhafara’s original plan was to open a sushi bar but a meeting with the Vietnamese embassy sealed his fate. In order to bread and fry without the risk of the egg breaking apart, I imagined the consistency would be closer to a soft boil with a solid egg white and crumbly yolk.

I tried Tinder Social so you don’t have to. I tried Tinder Social because I have morals and principles but they can be bought with cheese fries and Fernet attention. Probably so you can’t add your unwitting sister to your Tinder Social group and give out her number. Picking your Group When you unlock Tinder Social, you can see all your Facebook friends who are already on Tinder Social. When my friend (also a girl) and I tried Tinder Social, our phones may or may not have stopped working.

Ricardo Siri Liniers, more commonly know as Liniers, is arguably the most well known contemporary cartoonist in Argentina. There Liniers began publishing a daily strip that he named Macanudo, and almost fifteen years later, the comic strip is still going strong. Many of Liniers’ strips embody a riddle at their core; tackling a clever kind of paradox with an almost zen like candor. Inaugurated on July 15th, Todo es Macanudo is on display at the Centro Cultural Borges until September 20th. Centro Cultural Borges, Viamonte 525How much?

In the last 24 hours new death threats made to President Mauricio Macri and Vice President Gabriela Michetti have come to light in what is being seen as somewhat of a trend. The government is currently “on alert” and taking new security measures while the threats themselves are gaining a lot of media attention. You’re a real bitch, you and all of [the government].”Michetti is currently in the Dominican Republic representing Macri at the inauguration of the country’s new President Danilo Medina. Last night, police in Mendoza Province arrested a man for making threats to Macri in 911 calls before the President was set to arrive in said province this morning for a ceremony.
