"It's with mixed emotions that the upcoming India series will be my last for Australia," said Healy, whose husband is Australia pace spearhead Mitchell Starc. One of the most destructive batters and finest wicketkeepers in world cricket, she has been part of eight World Cup titles. "Alyssa is one of the all-time greats of the game and has made an immeasurable contribution both on and off the field over her 15-year career," said Cricket Australia chief Todd Greenberg. ECB lifts 20% limit on Credit Agricole's stake in Banco BPM
PARIS, France, Jan 13, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - The European Central Bank (ECB) has lifted the 20-percent threshold on Credit Agricole's stake in Italian competitor Banco BPM, the French bank said on Monday. That ruling, made January 9, comes half a year after Credit Agricole had submitted a request to have the limit removed in early July. Banco BPM, Italy's third-largest bank, has been embroiled in the aftermath of a hostile takeover bid since November 2024 by second-ranked UniCredit. UniCredit withdrew its offer for Banco BPM in July after Meloni's administration blocked the bid. Giuseppe Castagna, Banco BPM's CEO, had expressed a preference for a Credit Agricole merger in an interview in September.

Ex-France, Liverpool defender Sakho announces retirement
PARIS, France, Jan 13, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Former France, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain defender Mamadou Sakho announced his retirement on Monday aged 35. Centre-back Sakho had been without a club since leaving Georgian outfit Torpedo Kutaisi last January. "I wanted to thank everyone," he said on the pitch before PSG's French Cup last 32 game against another of his former sides, Paris FC. In 2013 he moved to Liverpool where he spent four seasons before moving to Crystal Palace, Montpellier and, finally, Torpedo Kutaisi. Sakho was in the French squad at the 2014 World Cup, featuring in the three group games and the 1-0 quarter-final defeat by Germany.

Hawaii's Kilauea volcano puts on spectacular lava display
LOS ANGELES, United States, Jan 13, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Hawaii's Kilauea was spraying a spectacular fountain of lava on Monday, keeping up its reputation as one of the world's most active volcanoes. For over a year now, Kilauea has been regularly throwing out thousands of tonnes of molten rock and gases since it burst to life in December 2024. Tiny slivers of volcanic glass, known as "Pele's hair," are also being thrown into the air. It is one of six active volcanoes located in the Hawaiian Islands, which also include Mauna Loa, the largest volcano in the world. Kilauea is much smaller than neighboring Mauna Loa, but it is far more active and regularly wows helicopter-riding tourists who come to see its red-hot shows.
