The Revolutionary Workers Party has voiced dissatisfaction over the amendment to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), arguing that changes to it were made without consulting political parties. The Representation of the People's Order (RPO) Amendment Ordinance was issued on Monday, bringing extensive reforms to the electoral law. Saiful said: "It was necessary to discuss the RPO with political parties before finalising it. The RPO amendment has already been issued. The biggest challenge now is to increase the capacity and dignity of the Election Commission."

Sputnik/Dmitry Astakhov/Pool via REUTERSChina's President Xi Jinping on Tuesday sought to expand mutual investment with Russia and affirmed Beijing's commitment to advance ties despite "turbulent" external conditions, Chinese state media reported. "China-Russia relations have stayed the course toward higher-level and higher-quality development, advancing steadily despite a turbulent external environment," Xi told Mishustin, according to state broadcaster CCTV. Xi and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a "no-limits" partnership in February 2022 days before Putin sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine. Since then, Russia has turned to China to blunt the impact of sanctions, highlighting record trade, increased settlements in yuan and deepening energy cooperation. Chinese state oil majors suspended purchases of seaborne Russian oil following US sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil, Moscow's two biggest oil companies, Reuters reported last month.

The interim government has issued the Representation of the People's Order (RPO) Amendment Ordinance, 2025, with a provision that says candidates must run using their registered party’s symbol even if they form an alliance. The Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs issued the ordinance in the form of a gazette on Monday, bdnews24.com reports. Earlier, the draft of the RPO Amendment Ordinance was approved in principle at a meeting of the Advisory Council on October 23. As a result, even if more than one registered party forms an alliance in the 13th parliamentary election, the candidates nominated by the alliance will not be able to run using the symbol of another party, but have to contest under their own party’s symbol. The reforms to electoral law have been completed with the issuing of the RPO Amendment Ordinance.

Conflict over reforms: Will what didn't happen in 8 months possible in 7 days? The interim government has given political parties one week to resolve disagreements over the process of implementing the July National Charter and the referendum date. Analysts, however, raised questions about how much resolution is possible in seven days when the disputes were not settled during the Consensus Commission's eight months of dialogue with the parties. Now, if you say that the political parties will decide among themselves, then why have an interim government? The long-time allied political parties of the anti-fascist movement have been urged to hold discussions on their own initiative and provide the government with a unified directive in the fastest possible time, if possible within the next week, he added.

Iran's Supreme Leader says cooperation with US not possible while it backs IsraelCooperation between Iran and the United States is not possible as long as Washington continues to support Israel and to maintain military bases and interfere in the Middle East region, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday. Khamenei's comments came as President Donald Trump's administration seeks to increase pressure on Iran. Cooperation with Iran is not possible as long as the US continues to support the accursed Zionist regime, maintains military bases, and interferes in the region," Khamenei said, according to state media. Trump said in October that the US is prepared to make a deal with Iran when Tehran is ready to do so, saying: "The hand of friendship and cooperation [with Iran] is open." The two countries held five rounds of nuclear talks, prior to a 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June, which Washington joined by striking key Iranian nuclear sites.
