The protest, organised under the banner of the Bangladesh Private College Honours-Masters Teachers’ Federation, marked the third day of their demonstration. The teachers alleged that police used tear gas, water cannons, and batons to disperse them on Thursday afternoon. They used tear gas and water cannons, injuring several teachers. They say their current salaries are insufficient to cover household expenses, with some teachers earning as little as Tk 5,000 to Tk 6,000. Being included in the MPO scheme would help alleviate our financial struggles and allow us to survive with some self-respect.

Osteria Sierra’s Panna Cotta Bianco e Fragole Rob Galloway / Sierra SunPanna cotta is essentially sweetened cream that is thickened and poured into a cup or mold until it sets, leaving you with a sleek and gorgeous looking canvas to then add whatever components float your taste buds. In this version, you get a little vanilla bean and white chocolate that is added to the panna cotta and then topped with a strawberry compote and meringue then garnished with a bit of fresh mint. The sliced strawberries add the perfect amount of freshness and sweetness, and the meringue balances everything out with a loaded creaminess. Osteria Sierra is located inside the Hyatt Regency Resort at 111Country Club Dr. in Incline Village.

REUTERS/Violeta Santos MouraFamilies of Israeli hostages taken captive to Gaza by Islamist group Hamas fear their loved ones are in greater danger after Israeli troops killed the militant group's leader, Yahya Sinwar. That leaves 101 hostages still in Gaza by Israeli tallies, at least half of whom Israeli authorities believe are still alive. "Sinwar, who was described as a major obstacle to a deal, is no longer alive," they said in a statement. But Sinwar had eluded detection, possibly hiding in the warren of tunnels Hamas has built under Gaza during the past two decades. I'm not sure what does it mean about our hostages and their safety and how many of them are still alive?

Real Madrid have, for the moment at least, given their support to star forward Kylian Mbappe since the Swedish media reported that he is being investigated for an alleged rape during a visit to Stockholm. On Tuesday, Real were accused of deleting 25-year-old Mbappe from photos it published in a promotional campaign with its jersey manufacturer Adidas. Reports in several Swedish media say they visited a restaurant and a nightclub. A Swedish prosecutor has only confirmed that an investigation has been opened, without naming Mbappe. His lawyer Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard told AFP on Tuesday the 2018 World Cup winner was "at ease" because "he has done nothing wrong".

In a year when costs have increased and tax revenue has fallen across the County, legislators have been busy debating and revising the 2025 Tompkins County Budget, which is expected to pass in November. While costs are rising, sales tax revenue — the second largest source of revenue — is projected to drop significantly for Tompkins County. Legislator Shawna Black (11th District) explained that the decline in sales tax is one of the County’s biggest concerns. Property taxes are the largest source of revenue for Tompkins County, and in 2025, the property tax percentage will decrease for homeowners. This year, home valuations increased by 20.5 percent in Tompkins County over the past year, far outpacing New York state’s overall increase of 6.8 percent.
