LONDON, March 25, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Britain's annual inflation rate was unchanged at 3.0 percent in February, official data showed Wednesday ahead of an expected jump as the Middle East war has sent oil prices surging. Rising clothes prices last month were "offset by falls in petrol costs, with prices collected before the start of the conflict in the Middle East and subsequent rise in crude oil prices", noted Grant Fitzner, chief economist at the Office for National Statistics.

There are 30 available seats for the 2026-2027 academic year, including President, Executive Vice President and representatives across multiple majors and fields. The Assembly also manages the Undergraduate Student Activity Fee, which supports select undergraduate institutions with their programming. Students must be full-time undergraduate students to vote and register. The Student Assembly has undergone a series of tense meetings throughout the spring semester, where members have expressed frustrations over assembly inaction, delays and absences of response on passed resolutions. “In my opinion, if you're not raising your hand, you should not be running for re-election for Student Assembly,” Ehrlich said at the meeting.

He then turned to the Bengali soldiers of the unit and delivered a speech addressing them. (Yet) I briefly told them everything," Zia wrote describing the moment of the revolt.

NUUK, March 25, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - A candidate from a party pushing to fast-track Greenland's independence will soon represent the island in the Danish parliament. The territory's second seat was won by Naaja Nathanielsen, a Greenland minister from the social-democratic party Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA). Greenland's prime minister told AFP on Tuesday that Denmark's general election was the most important in the history of the Danish autonomous territory. Frederiksen's Social Democrats finished first in Tuesday's general election but posted their weakest showing in more than 120 years and the left-wing bloc they belong to failed to secure a majority. The international row over Greenland was not central to the general election campaign however, which focused instead on domestic issues like inflation and immigration.

SYDNEY, March 25, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Hundreds of journalists went on strike Wednesday at Australia's main public broadcaster, demanding better pay and protections to stop artificial intelligence taking their jobs. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation was forced to replace live programming with pre-recorded shows after more than 2,000 journalists and staff called a 24-hour strike. It is the first major strike to hit the broadcaster in around 20 years. "ABC staff don't want to strike, they want to do their jobs," the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance said in a statement. Falling advertising revenues and the rise of social media have fuelled repeated rounds of job cuts across Australia's media.

YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon, March 25, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Disruptions to fertiliser supplies caused by the Middle East war pose a double threat to global food security through scarcity and high prices, a top World Trade Organization official has warned. A third of the world's fertilisers normally transit the strait, and the disruption has prompted multiple warnings about the impact on food production. Major food exporters such as India, Thailand and Brazil depend on the Gulf for urea, a nitrogen-based fertiliser, making them vulnerable. Because the war is only a few weeks old, there is currently no fertiliser shortage, Paugam said. "But with the risks linked to the war in the Middle East, there is once again a risk of falling off track," Paugam warned.
