I’m looking at the antisemitic incidents since October 7, 2023, which have spiked. In its 2021 Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, B‘nai Brith claims the cumulative total of violent antisemitic incidents for the entire five-year period from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2020 was 61. And yet, improbably, according to B’nai Brith Canada, Canada leads the US in antisemitic incidents by a staggering factor. He noted that there were 15 antisemitic incidents reported between October 7 and October 25.

Canada bans arm of drugmaker Teva from federal contracts over U.S. price-fixing scheme
The ban only lasts until April 2025, although it could be extended, and does not apply to the company’s local subsidiary, Teva Canada. The last federal contract with Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, a sole-source contract from the Department of National Defence for an adenovirus vaccine, appears to have ended in October, just days before the suspension began. Per the deferred prosecution agreement, Teva USA admitted its role in three price-fixing conspiracies involving different “essential medicines,” including a widely-used cholesterol medicine called pravastatin. He also wondered why Apotex was not also banned from federal government contracts after it admitted to its role in the price-fixing scheme years before Teva. Other than Teva USA, five other companies have been suspended or deemed ineligible for 10 years from bidding on Canadian government contracts.

Indigenous-led conservation gets $1B

It recognizes that Indigenous-led conservation is the pathway to 30 by 30, a worldwide initiative for governments to designate the protection of 30 per cent of Earth’s land and oceans by 2030. “I am hopeful that we will see the funding result in a fundamental paradigm shift towards greater Indigenous-led conservation that makes space for nature and supports all living things,” she added.

RCMP say a tractor rolled over after colliding with a police vehicle in Surrey, B.C., on Nov. 25, 2023. "They attempted to stop the tractor which resulted in an initial collision when the tractor struck a police vehicle," said RCMP Staff Sgt. Maritime blacksmiths come together for some hammer-in this weekend
Nova Scotia blacksmiths will be showing off their tools and techniques at an event in Lower Ship Harbour on Saturday. Blacksmiths from across the Maritimes will hold a traditional hammer-in event where techniques will be shared. Event organizer Sarah Wechsler told CBC Radio's Information Morning Nova Scotia there will be five forges set up. Women blacksmithsAccording to Wechsler, there is a long tradition of women involved in the trade. She said there are at least nine women blacksmiths in Nova Scotia alone.
