Despite his wishes, the case was prosecuted by his former colleagues and not given to an outside agency. That sparked a pair of criminal investigations — one into O’Brien for sexual assault, and one into the woman for extortion. But then Bepple claimed she does get along with the mayor. So, okay, she’s free to proclaim that she will work well with the mayor if they’re both re-elected, but I see scant evidence it’s happening currently. The entire council has made a point of not working with the mayor, and he hasn’t succeeded in working with them either. Hopefully, they’ll all say they can work with the mayor during the next term, because they’ve been a flop at it this term. He has served as mayor of Kamloops, school board chair and TNRD director, and is a retired daily newspaper editor.

Passengers who refuse to use headphones while travelling with United Airlines may find themselves removed from their flights. These changes come after United updated its “contract of carriage” on Feb. 27 to state that “passengers who fail to use headphones while listening to audio or video content” can be refused transport. The change has been linked to United’s effort to expand Starlink Wi-Fi access on its planes, according to the New York Post. The business community prioritized immigration as a cheaper means to meet labour-market needs than raising wages and investing in technology. However, some demographers, geographers and labour-market economists offered a more balanced view of higher permanent and temporary immigration.
