Chris LisinskiState House News ServiceBOSTON — Opponents of a new worker benefits ballot question campaign on Monday asked state campaign finance regulators to investigate the question's backers, who alleged in response that the complaint is based on a "willful misunderstanding" of state law. His group convened its own OCPF ballot question committee on Tuesday. The group neither committed to nor ruled out a ballot question campaign until last week. Committee officials indicated in their paperwork that "no money has been raised or spent prior to the organization of the ballot question committee," which Firestone alleged is a "false claim." State campaign finance law requires corporations or associations to disclose all expenditures made to promote or oppose a ballot question, including some "made in anticipation that a question will appear on a ballot."

Be mindful of poison ivy and how to treat exposure. When trekking through dense woods and even backyard overgrowth, remember to wear long pants and high socks to reduce contact with poison ivy. When treating poison ivy, look for special poison ivy soap that contains oat bran, bentonite clay (a fine powder formed from volcanic ash used as a topical treatment for thousands of years) and essential oils of Salix alba (white willow), sassafras and grindelia camporum. These natural tips are just a few ways to keep skin protected and healthy while enjoying what the rest of summer has to offer. Readers with questions about natural or homeopathic medicine, compounded medications, or health in general can e-mail gary@naturalcompounder.com or call 781-893-3870.

I think that’s what this show is holding the mirror up to, that these characters are all aspects that live inside of us. He’s on, he’s acting for all these guests, and he’s kind of maneuvering this whole fantasy that they’re living out on their vacation. Eventually, we think it becomes our reality, and so I think he’s like, “What the fuck? I’ve always been a bit of a people pleaser, and I don’t think that’s necessarily a good trait. Even though I don’t think that I act on those impulses — hope to God that I don’t — I probably do at some points.

A new container terminal run by China’s Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) is opening this year just up the coast and Haifa port will have to be upgraded to compete. Final offers are expected around October, an official with the Government Companies Authority (GCA), which is handling the sale, told Reuters. Contenders come from Israel, Europe, India and the United Arab Emirates, which only last year normalised ties with Israel. The GCA official said the sale was “an orderly, international process”, adding: “geopolitics is not a factor”. “We want the port of Haifa to become a major port for general cargo, cars, roro (roll-on/roll-off ships) and cruise (liners),” DAO Shipping’s CEO Danny Ungar told Reuters.

Just after 1 p.m., handfuls of children are scattered around Cristina Baez and Sarah Riordan's classroom on one of the final days of a summer school program at Haynes Elementary School in Sudbury. The groundwork for the summer program began in January. "We worked together with all the players, especially the teachers because the teachers really know the kids best," said David Gaita, program director. Teachers monitored how students were doing and wrote progress reports at the end of the program, so students' teachers this fall know how far they've come. Throughout the five-week program, kids celebrated silly sock day, riddle day, joke day, and dance party day.

Created in the 1960s in Washington state, pickleball is best described as a combination of other sports, resulting in a hybrid sport that even couch potatoes can enjoy. The game is played on a badminton-sized court split by a net. Now, he competes in tournaments in different states, coaches in towns like Millis and senior centers, and is the pickleball coordinator at Kingsbury Club Medfield. And that makes the game a lot more fun.”If you've played tennis or racquetball ...“It’s not like tennis where you spend years serving and chasing the ball. You actually start hitting a pickleball over the net the first time you practice,” said Dennis Pollard, the coordinator of the Marlborough Ward Pickleball Steering committee.

Instead of a diploma, Boyd received a certificate of attainment. Passing scores on all three tests has been a graduation requirement since 2003. Because the MCAS had been waived as a graduation requirement, he could now receive his diploma. After high school, Boyd attended the district's post-graduate program, Learning in Functional Environments Program or LIFE. After getting the phone call in July, he went to Marlborough High School where he was handed the diploma.
