Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said Monday that imported goods worth 23 billion dollars have been cleared from the different ports since January. Rapid customs clearance and eased procedures have eased the burden on importers and helped secure basic commodities on the local market to meet the needs of citizens, Maait said in statements. He put the average value of cleared goods at about five billion dollars monthly. Work is ongoing to further reduce the customs clearance time, as well as import and export costs, the minister noted.
