CAIRO - 4 November 2023: Five Arab Foreign Ministers are scheduled to hold a joint meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken Saturday in Amman as Gaza’s humanitarian situation deteriorates. The foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Jordan in addition to Palestinian officials will meet with Blinken, who is in a regional tour that started with Israel on Friday. Egypt’s Foreign Ministry spox said on his official account on X that “a unified Arab stance that does not accept any hesitation or ambiguity will be conveyed to the US Secretary of State, which is “the necessity of an immediate cessation of Israeli attacks, the priority of aid entry, no displacement, ending the occupation and that establishing an independent Palestinian state is the solution.”More than 9,000 Palestinians were killed so far since the Israeli aggression began on Gaza Strip, with Israel committing a new war crime on Friday targeting an ambulance in front of Al Shifa Medical Complex, which was transporting wounded individuals. The bombing led to the killing of at least 60 Palestinian according to Gaza Ministry of Health spokesperson, Ashraf Qudra.

CAIRO - 4 November 2023: Egyptian state continues its intensive efforts to bring humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip in Palestine after it was subjected to continuous bombing by the Zionist entity, which resulted in thousands of deaths, and a significant deterioration of water, medicines, medical supplies, and food. The efforts of the Egyptian Red Crescent, the National Alliance for Civil and Development Action, the Haya Karima Foundation, and a number of international programs, including the World Health Program, UNRWA, and 26 countries, succeeded in providing aid totaling 7,949 tons. Egypt succeeded in providing about 5,900 tons from Egypt, and more than 6,000 tons were delivered to the Gaza Strip, as the total number of trucks that entered the Strip reached 374 trucks, including 1,496 tons of medicine, 1,393 foods, 2,059 water, 320 tons of clothes and other materials, and 32 tons of tents. Around 1,000 trucks prepare to enter the Gaza Strip, as they will enter in two stages.

The foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Saudi Arabia will meet with US top diplomat in Amman on Saturday to look into a ceasefire in Gaza, according to a statement from the Jordanian Foreign Ministry. The Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization will also attend the meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, said the statement. The top Arab diplomats will hold a coordination meeting before meeting with Blinken. During their meeting with Blinken, the top Arab diplomats will reaffirm the Arab stance, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent and immediate delivery of humanitarian assistance to the besieged strip. The Arab foreign ministers will also discuss with Blinken how to contain the Israel-Hamas conflict and prevent it from spreading to the region.

Egypt raised domestic petrol prices on Friday while keeping the diesel price unchanged, according to the country’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Prices of 80-octane, 92-octane, and 95-octane petrol per liter were raised from 8.75 Egyptian pounds (28 U.S. cents), 10.25 pounds, and 11.5 pounds to 10 pounds, 11.5 pounds, and 12.5 pounds, respectively. The diesel price remained unchanged at 8.25 pounds per liter. “Stabilizing the diesel price is important to preserving public interest because of its impact on transport costs and commodity prices,” the ministry said. Early in May, the country raised its diesel price by one pound to 8.25 pounds per liter while keeping gasoline prices unchanged.

At least seven Palestinians were killed on Friday in various clashes with the Israeli army in the West Bank, the Ramallah-based Health Ministry said. In addition, more than 14 others were wounded in clashes with Israeli forces in various places. Israeli reconnaissance aircraft bombed several sites in the camp, including a citizen’s house, while Israeli forces occupied several houses to deploy snipers. The Israeli forces bulldozed infrastructure and roads in the camp and its surroundings and destroyed memorials to a number of slain Palestinians who were killed by Israeli bullets. Since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict on Oct. 7, the death toll of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank has risen to 144.

On Thursday, the Israeli army announced the killing of a number of officers during the ground invasion and armed battles in the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel. The army also announced that a soldier from the Caracal Brigade was seriously injured in an accident on the Egyptian border, without specifying whether he was a man or a woman, as the brigade comprises more than 70 percent women in its ranks. The Israeli army also revealed the death of a senior officer during his battles with Hamas north of the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli newspaper. He is Lieutenant Colonel Salman Habaka, 33 years old, commander of the 53rd Battalion of the 188th Brigade. The Israeli newspaper indicated that Habaka is the highest-ranking officer killed during the Israeli army’s ground operation in the Gaza Strip, and with his death, the number of soldiers killed during the ground attack rises to 18, and 333 since the beginning of the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip.

The Sovereign Fund of Egypt’s (TSFE) Board of Directors has convened its first meeting after a recent reshuffle, headed by Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development and the Chairperson of TSFE. The meeting discussed the status of TSFE investments, as well as the progress of its projects and businesses and its sub-funds. El-Said praised the efforts of the former Board of Directors members who served at TSFE, namely Nevin Al-Tahiri, Hassan Al-Khatib, and Muhammad Farid. She also thanked the TSFE’s work team, its sub-funds, and the new Board of Directors. She further asserted that TSFE’s Board of Directors consists of experts in the field of investment, with a majority of independent members.

Egypt - The government is set to receive final financial offers from potential buyers of fuel stations owned by Wataniya Petroleum, a military-owned company, in the next two weeks, according to informed sources who spoke to Daily News Egypt. The deal involves selling 174 out of 300 fuel stations that Wataniya operates across the country while keeping 126 stations that are considered strategic and special under the company’s management, the sources said. The sources added that the interested investors have completed the due diligence process and are ready to submit their final financial offers starting next week. Among the bidders are Shell, in alliance with a Saudi investor backed by the Saudi government, TAQA Arabia, ADNOC, and ENOC. The payment will be made entirely in dollars, except for TAQA Arabia’s offer, which includes a part in pounds.

Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for Egypt and UN Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, spoke at the UNCTAD meetings about the challenges and opportunities of financing climate and development action in developing countries and emerging markets. He emphasized that climate action is not separate from development action, but rather an essential part of it. According to Mohieldin, the annual cost of implementing development action in general is estimated at $5.3trn, of which $2.4trn is needed for climate action alone. Addressing the negative impact of some new industrial policies in developed countries on the economies and competitiveness of developing countries. He said that financing climate and development action is not only a moral obligation but also a smart investment for a better future for all.

CAIRO – 1 November 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi received a phone call from Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak. Spokesperson for the Presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, said the phone call focused on the latest in the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip. President El-Sisi underscored the crucial need for the international community to adopt a decisive stance to push, in earnest, for a ceasefire and for the enforcement of an immediate humanitarian truce, given the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. The President confirmed that settling the Palestinian issue requires the implementation of the two-state solution, stressing that military solutions seriously compromise security and stability in the entire region. British Prime Minister Sunak expressed profound appreciation for Egypt’s role, affirming the United Kingdom’s stance with regard to the vital importance to protect civilians, deliver aid and reach a humanitarian truce.

The Al-Qahera News Channel reported on Wednesday that 40 trucks of aid were unloaded at the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, and cooperation is in place between the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescents to serve the wounded. The channel reported that Egypt is preparing to receive about 80 injured Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, with ambulances deployed. The Gaza Strip has been subjected to Israeli land, sea and air bombardment since Hamas and other Palestinian factions launched operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” on October 7. The death toll from the Israeli bombing amounted to about 4,475 dead and more than 14,000 wounded in the Gaza Strip. On the Israeli side, more than 1,400 people were killed, including 306 officers and soldiers, while Hamas captured more than 200 Israelis.
