Tennis-Rybakina marches past Svitolina into French Open quarter-finalsBy Sybille de La HamaidePARIS (Reuters) -World number four Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan sent out a warning to her fellow title contenders as she eased to a 6-4 6-3 victory over Ukraine’s Elena Svitolina on Monday to reach her second French Open quarter-final. Svitolina had reached the quarter-finals four times before, including 2023, but was unable to trouble the former Wimbledon champion. Rybakina withdrew from the French Open last year before her third-round match because of illness. This season, after winning titles in Brisbane, Abu Dhabi and Stuttgart, Rybakina pulled out of the Italian Open due to health issues. Rybakina is the only player to beat Iga Swiatek on clay this year, defeating the world number one and three-times French Open champion on her way to the Stuttgart title in April.

Somalia to expel Ethiopian troops unless Somaliland port deal scrapped, official says

(Reuters)Somalia will expel thousands of Ethiopian troops stationed in the country to help with security by the end of the year unless Addis Ababa scraps a disputed port deal with the breakaway region of Somaliland, a senior Somali official said on Monday. Ethiopia offered Somaliland possible recognition in exchange for being allowed to set up a naval base and commercial port – a move Mogadishu has called illegal. Spokespeople for the Ethiopian government and the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) did not respond to requests for comment. But the Somali government has requested several times for the withdrawal of troops to be slowed down, citing setbacks on the battlefield.

Biden lied
It would be interesting to learn from Biden which Israeli came up with this plan. Biden’s “Israeli” plan sounded c,omprehensive but it wasn’t, and it didn’t sound right. According to Biden we would get all our hostages after we release several hundred merciless killers and accept a ceasefire that would become a permanent cessation in fighting. In other words, Biden’s Israel plan gifts a victory to Hamas. But Biden broke that sacred bond in a cynical political manner.

Kaliti is a maximum-security facility housing about 300 inmates of Nigerian descent. Ethiopian prime minister arrives in Seoul for Korea-Africa Summit
A video shared by the Office of the Ethiopian head of Government on its X account shows his arrival in the South Korean capital and his welcome by local authorities. Representatives from 48 African countries will take part in the summit, chaired by President Yoon Suk Yeol, and according to the first deputy director of the South Korean National Security Office, Kim Tae Hyo, they will be represented by heads of Government, kings and presidents. Kim Tae Hyo confirmed last Thursday that 25 African leaders will hold bilateral meetings with President Yoon Suk Yeol. The Korea-Africa Business Summit 2024, coordinated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), will take place on June 5, he added. Kim Tae Hyo noted that the Korea-Africa Summit is the largest multilateral meeting of the current administration and the first summit hosted by Seoul with African countries.
