GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two officers are on administrative leave after a shoot-out with a fleeing suspect. A traffic stop on Saturday night turned into a police chase when a suspect fled from the passenger side of his vehicle. After the suspect ran away, GRPD says the officers began chasing him eastbound into an alley. They said the suspect ran between two houses on Horton Ave. when the suspect presented a semi-automatic handgun and fired multiple rounds at the officers. GRPD said both officers returned fire with their department issued handguns.

Her time bettered Brigid Kosgei’s 2022 women’s course record of 2:16:02 and took more than two minutes off her previous personal best time of 2:18:12. Ichitaka Yamashita was the fastest Japanese man in a time of 2:06:31 to finish ninth, while Hitomi Niiya took the local honours in the women’s race with a sixth-placed finish in 2:21:50.

In excess of 210 days have elapsed since the international friendly against Ethiopia on August 2, 2023, and the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) is still to remunerate the Golden Jaguars senior men’s programme’s contractually bound match-day fees. This was confirmed by a source close to the national programme, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. World Trade Organization (WTO) members concluded the 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) in Abu Dhabi today with the adoption of a Ministerial Declaration setting out a forward-looking, reform agenda for the organization. It also recognized the contribution of women’s economic empowerment and women’s participation in trade to economic growth and sustainable development. Members also agreed on a Ministerial Decision on concrete measures to ease the path to graduation from the category of least-developed countries. The government said the 27 oil blocks available have an estimated 22 billion barrels. Residents say drilling has inched closer to their homes and they have seen pipes break regularly, sending oil into the soil. Three companies — two American andone Canadian — moved on three methane gas blocks in Lake Kivu, on the border with Rwanda. There are no known confirmed deals on the 27 oil blocks, and the deadline for expressions of interest has been extended through this year. In Kimpozia village, near one of the areas up for auction, some 150 people live nestled in the forest without a school or hospital.

Multiple crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the current geopolitical and global macroeconomic situation have resulted in poor economic progress and exacerbated the structural challenges of African Landlocked Least Developed Countries (LLDCs). Thirteen are still categorized as least developed countries and no landlocked developing country in Africa has graduated from least developed country status in the past decade. On the trade front, African LLDCs had low trade in services between 2014 and 2022. They accounted for only 0.2 percent of global services exports and 0.4 of global service imports while the trade balance between African LLDCS remained negative within the same period. These include Investing in people in least developed countries, leveraging the power of science, technology, and innovation and supporting structural transformation as a driver of prosperity.
