Atong Atem’s exhibition Banksia will be on show at Gosford Regional Gallery from February 24 to April 15. As part of the Hometown series, the exhibition, visiting from Melbourne’s MARS Gallery, recognises the practices of artists with connection to the Central Coast. Atong Atem’s digital photograph WaterHer work explores the inherent intimacy of portraiture and photography as well as the role photographers take as storytellers. She has exhibited her work widely across Australia and internationally, including recent exhibitions at the TATE Modern, Wereld Museum Rotterdam and regional exhibitions at UQ Art Gallery, Tweed Gallery and Adelaide Perry Gallery. In 2022, Atem received the La Prairie Art Award and in 2018, she was the recipient of the National Gallery of Victoria and MECCA M-Power scholarship.

Africa’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines has completed the Gode Ugaas Miraad Airport Terminal building and aircraft parking with a taxiway construction project. Following the completion of the project after three years, the airline unveiled a new terminal building with a total built-up area of 3,500sq. “It is also a step forward in the work we do to elevate our domestic airport facilities to a higher level.”It stated that the new airport terminal is equipped with the latest technology and airport facility amenities, including a solar system to allow for smooth and convenient travel via the airport. Since the acquisition of the Ethiopian Airports Enterprise by Ethiopian Airlines Group as a Strategic Business Unit in 2017, Ethiopian Airlines Group had taken over the administrative role, including construction and renovation projects of airports in the country. Ethiopian Airlines connects more than 22 destinations in the country.

Democrat Tom Suozzi won a Tuesday in New York for the U.S. House seat that was left vacant when was expelled from Congress. Suozzi defeated Republican Mazi Pilip to retake a seat he held for three terms before giving it up to run, unsuccessfully, for governor. The unusual midwinter election became necessary after Santos was ousted by his colleagues in December, partway through his first term. With no time for a primary before the special election, Democrats nominated Suozzi, a political centrist well known to voters in the district. Suozzi counterattacked Pilip on abortion, saying she couldn’t be trusted to protect abortion rights in places like New York where it remains legal.

Conservatives in the House of Representatives, which is narrowly controlled by Republicans, blame Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for a surge in illegal entries from Mexico that they have called a "humanitarian catastrophe." "Since this secretary refuses to do the job that the Senate confirmed him to do, the House must act." Impeachment is meant to be a sanction for treason, bribery and other "high crimes and misdemeanors," according to the constitution. According to the EHRC, security forces also rounded up and arrested an unknown number of people in Merawi on suspicion of being members of Fano. But the U.S. last week said it was deeply concerned by reports of "targeted civilian killings" in Merawi. In September, the EHRC accused federal government forces of carrying out extra-judicial killings in Amhara, and mass arbitrary detentions in the region and elsewhere.

"They went into my brother's house… They brought him and 12 others out to the streets and shot them," a labourer told the BBC. Most of those killed were young men, according to witnesses. Both the US and the European Union have expressed their concerns at the move, which comes amid intense ongoing fighting between Fano militias and the army.
