AFP Fact Check reviewed the original video from EBC and the footage allegedly presented as evidence showing Abiy confirming Tigray would not get back the occupied land. We established the footage in the false post is an excerpt from the original video and was shared without any alterations. Having watched both videos, AFP Fact Check can confirm that Abiy did not say at any point that the disputed territory would never be returned to Tigray.

Iran simulates strike on Israeli base as it showcases naval force
Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has simulated a strike on a major Israeli airbase, making a show of its naval capabilities. The footage showed that the IRGC launched missiles from two locations at a re-creation of the Palmachim airbase in Israel. IRGC commander-in-chief Hossein Salami said the force for the first time has succeeded in launching long-range ballistic missiles from a warship. The IRGC also displayed speed boats, catamarans and submarines in action with short-range missiles launched by the former. The IRGC also showed missiles being launched from its two recently unveiled catamarans that are capable of firing antiship cruise missiles.

House Republicans are expected to hold a second vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday, after an initial effort seeking to do so failed last week. Ethiopia’s human rights watchdog says government forces carried out a massacre of civilians last month in Amhara state. The Human Rights Commission said it had identified at least 45 civilian deaths, although the number was most likely higher as it couldn’t investigate fully. The commission said victims had been targeted for allegedly supporting an ethnic Amhara militia. Eyewitnesses said they’d seen people shot dead on the streets as soldiers fought rebels in the town of Merawi. Westminster Abbey decides ‘in principle’ to return Ethiopian tabot
Every Ethiopian church houses a covered tabot, which is regarded as sacrosanct and must be seen only by the priest. In July 2018 the Ethiopian government called for the restitution of the Abbey’s tabot. An Abbey spokesperson tells The Art Newspaper: “The Dean [David Hoyle] and Chapter has decided in principle that it would be appropriate to return the Ethiopian tabot to the Ethiopian Church. We are currently considering the best way to achieve this, and we are in ongoing discussions with representatives of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. In 2007, the head of the Ethiopian Orthodox church, Abune Paulos, travelled to London to meet the abbey’s receiver-general and to call for the return of the tabot.

Kefi Gold & Copper shares up as Tulu Kapi prepares for launch
(Alliance News) - Shares in Kefi Gold & Copper PLC rose on Tuesday, after the company noted progress on the multi-party financing package for its Tulu Kapi gold project. This followed Kefi's announcement that financing arrangements for its 95%-owned Tulu Kapi gold project in western Ethiopia was nearing completion. In January, Kefi received confirmation of conditional final credit committee approval from its lead lender. In October, Kefi received formal confirmation from the Ethiopian national bank of the details for the operation of offshore banking by its operating subsidiary Tulu Kapi Gold Mines Share Co. As the company awaits the drawdown of the USD320 million project funding, it has commenced launch preparations for Tulu Kapi.
