The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications company, have joined hands to deliver information communication technology (ICT) equipment for the Ethiopian Ministry of Education. The support was made as part of the UNESCO and Huawei collaboration under the Technology-enabled Open School Systems for All (TeOSS) project, Huawei said in a statement issued Thursday. The state minister stressed that the donation of ICT equipment will open doors to a world of opportunities for the target secondary school students. The project, in particular, would help transform schools in low-resource countries into technology-enabled open schools and provide inclusive, equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all, it said. “Today, we mark a significant milestone in this journey as we witness the delivery of the latest ICT equipment to secondary schools across Ethiopia,” Bissoonauth was quoted by Huawei as saying.

The special election is Feb. 13. Pilip was 12 during Operation Solomon, the 1991 airlift that brought Ethiopian Jews to Israel. Pilip was among a broad swath of Long Island Republicans who denounced Santos and called on him to resign as soon as his deceptions were revealed.

Two opposition leaders from Ethiopia’s western Gambella region were recently interviewed by a US-based journalist about the ongoing conflicts in Ethiopia. The Gambella People’s Democratic Movement is one of the opposition parties from the region. The video, however, exaggerated parts of the interview with the two Gambella political leaders. The video shows an interview by a US-based journalist with two exiled opposition leaders in the US and UK — Nikaw and his party’s deputy president Ojulu Obala, both from the Gambella People’s Democratic Movement. However, the narrator in the misleading TikTok video uses only a fraction of the original interview to arrive at a misleading conclusion.

Rating agency Fitch Ratings downgraded Ethiopia's credit rating on Thursday to junk status. The Ethiopian state still benefits from a grace period of two weeks before being officially declared in default of payment. Ethiopia requested debt relief under the G20 common framework earlier this year 2021, but progress was initially delayed by the war. At the start of the year, the government asked the IMF for a new loan program worth 2 billion dollars. With 132 million inhabitants, Ethiopia has long been the darling of investors, both Western and Chinese, due to its solid industrial base and an attractive legal and institutional framework.

The Greeks wanted to eliminate Judaism’s Torah values and have us abandon our wisdom and culture and subscribe to theirs. We rebuilt following the wars with Ancient Greece and we will do so again following our victory against Hamas. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Darkness does not drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Remember, when you light your chanukiahs - we Jews, are people on the same spectrum, Israeli Jews, American Jews, Ethiopian Jews, Middle Eastern Jews, Western Jews, Orthodox, Conservative, & Reform; we are all Jews. Do your part to bring light, bring hope, and we will all prevail.
