Ablakwa’s comment came two days after over 80 NPP MPs demanded the sack of Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu-Boahen. According to him, the action being taken by the minority concerning a motion for a vote of censure against Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister, has begun restoring some level of confidence in the Ghanaian economy. Speaker, I beg to submit that the legal grounds or grounds for submission are not embedded in the motion. He believes that a move to thwart government business in Parliament has been handled well by the party and that in the end, the end goal will be that 'ultimately Ghana wins.' The reaction came barely 24-hours after a group of about 80 Members of Parliament threatened to boycott government business if Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen are not relieved of their duties. The MPs believe that the removal of both men from their posts will help reverse a downward trajectory of the Ghanaian economy which is suffering among others, rising inflation, acute currency depreciation and excruciating cost of doing business. The NPP National Executives issued a statement hours after the October 25 press conference by the non-conformist MPs stressing that it was seized with the matter. There are economic challenges but the New Patriotic Party, NPP, government is working to resolve those challenges. This is the view of the NPP National Communications Officer, Eric Ahiagbah, who is also cautioning that only the NPP and no other party can resolve the challenges. In a Twitter post on Wednesday, October 26, Ahiagbah submitted: "The economic challenges Ghanaians have had to endure these past months under the NPP will be resolved. The main opposition National Democratic Congress have been on the case of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government accusing them of incompetent economic management leading to current hardships. Deputy Director of Communications for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu Bempah, has called on Ghanaians to have confidence in the Akufo-Addo-led government to restore the broken economy. To buttress his claim, he said government has a track record of developing the economy and stabilizing the local currency - cedi. According to 3news report, Owusu Bempah in a statement said the Ghanaian economy was thriving until the outbreak of the global pandemic - coronavirus - and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. “The NPP is the only party that has the track record of developing the economy and strengthening the Cedi. General News of Monday, 24 October 2022Source: www.ghanaweb.comFormer Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North, Issah Fuseini, has urged Ghanaians to continue to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to govern for at least forty (40) years. He stated that should Ghanaians give NPP at least 40 years to govern, the NDC would be “dead and buried” before it has any opportunity to win any election to also govern. “The National Democratic Congress is a public institution and being a public institution, we should be interested because at least they have held the reigns of power in this country before. I am sure by then the National Democratic Congress would have been dead and buried long before then,” the former legislator said. The NDC has accused the NPP of mismanagement owing to the record high inflation rates, fuel price hikes and the fast depreciation of the Cedi.
