The Bank’s Semi-Annual Report on the Petroleum Holding Fund (PHF) indicates that this figure includes both crude oil sales and petroleum-related taxes. However, it is still lower than the US$369.25 million earned from crude oil liftings alone in the second half of 2024, highlighting a slowdown in revenue. Despite the lower inflows, total petroleum revenue distributed in H2 2025 reached US$493.40 million, thanks to the use of accumulated balances and other income. The Ghana Stabilisation Fund (GSF) and Ghana Heritage Fund (GHF) were allocated US$115.99 million and US$49.71 million, respectively. As of December 31, 2025, Ghana’s total petroleum reserves stood at US$1.55 billion, with the Heritage Fund accounting for US$1.38 billion.

General News of Tuesday, 3 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comThe National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has disclosed that in many instances, illegal miners flee mining sites before operatives arrive, as DCEs and Assemblymen share intel with illegal miners before NAIMOS raids. Paa Kwesi Schandorf, spokesperson for NAIMOS, has attributed the compromise of intelligence to local authorities who allegedly share advance information with the miners ahead of the team’s arrival. To address the situation, the NAIMOS spokesperson indicated that the new strategy is to decentralise the fight to the local level, where local government officials will be held accountable for breaches of intelligence. Schandorf further explained that because some local government authorities are “selling information,” the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has ordered a thorough response to the issue. The operations are intelligence-led and usually kept under wraps, but where there is a need to inform a few relevant local authorities, that trust has been compromised.

Latvia Student Death: Foreign Affairs Ministry dismisses fee and fake ticket allegations“As I promised Ghanaians, the main reason for requesting this official visit is the distressing and unclear circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Nana Agyei Ahyia. The Latvian Foreign Minister has conveyed firm assurances that her government will fully cooperate with Ghana in the pursuit of truth and justice,” Ablakwa stated. Ablakwa also addressed public concerns over travel arrangements for Nana Agyei’s family, explaining that two relatives were unable to join the delegation initially due to visa delays caused by incomplete documentation. According to the Ministry, Nana Agyei’s mother was informed of the postponement and was denied travel at the airport due to incomplete documentation, not payment issues. Nana Agyei Ahyia’s death, first reported in June 2025, sparked widespread concern after Latvian authorities said he fell from his apartment in Riga.
