Man dies after overnight Finglas assault
Ellen O'DonoghueA man has died after a fatal assault in Finglas overnight. Shortly before 12.30am on Tuesday, gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an assault outside a residence on Dunsink Green, Finglas. A man (60s) was treated at the scene and subsequently pronounced dead at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Finglas Garda Station. Anyone with information is asked to contact Finglas Garda Station on (01) 666 7500, the Garda Confidential Line on (1800) 666 111 or any garda station.

‘No one has grappled with detail’ of assisted dying impact on courts, peer warns
MPs will vote on the proposed legislation on Friday following a debate in the House of Commons. According to the plans laid out earlier this month, the legislation will mean that the process of assisted dying must involve two independent doctors being satisfied that the person is eligible. Others, including Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, have been less explicit but indicated their support for the measures in the Bill. Meanwhile, Ms Mahmood, Mr Streeting, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson and Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds have said they will reject the legislation. Many of those opposed to a law change have voiced concern about the potential for coercion and mission creep, and say the legislation has been rushed.

Footage emerges of Irishman accused of American woman's murder walking hand-in-hand with her
Sarah SlaterCCTV footage has emerged of an American woman who was allegedly murdered by an Irish man walking hand-in-hand just hours prior to her death. The 37-year-old Irish man, who works in marketing, has allegedly admitted to killing Ms Michalski accidentally after becoming intimate at a rented apartment. The accused man’s lawyer said the American woman’s post-mortem results “will clarify the situation in favour of his client”. Mrs Michalski revealed that the family had met with the head of homicide several times to keep them informed. Friends of the missing woman have set-up a gofundme.com fundraising campaign titled Bring Mackenzie Michalski Home, which has to date raised more than €43,000.
