But if I were part of a family of child-bearing age, I would avoid Florida like the plague. This isn’t my parents’ Florida – or even the Florida of 20 years ago when I moved here. Since 2018, Florida has made significant cuts in the social programs that support low-income families. I hope that the state will fully fund the agencies that support low-income families and the mothers who were forced to carry a child that her family couldn’t afford/didn’t want. I would also hope the state would offer low-income women free contraception so they can avoid being forced to have a baby.

It’s what she does – Serrano accuses Taylor of intentional headbutts in rematchBy PA Sport StaffAmanda Serrano has accused Ireland’s Katie Taylor of intentionally headbutting her during their brutal rematch in Texas. Taylor defended her status as undisputed world light-welterweight champion with a unanimous decision victory over Serrano at the AT&T Stadium on Friday, with the judges scoring the bout 95-94 in her favour. However, controversy erupted after the decision was handed down when the Puerto Rican used her post-fight interview on Netflix to accuse Taylor of intentional headbutting. Following the fight, Serrano said: “I knew it if went to the judges it was going to be a little shady. Taylor and Serrano embraced each other after the bell, but the heavily pro-Serrano crowd voiced their displeasure as the result was announced.

Ireland hold off Argentina fightback to return to winning ways in DublinBy Ed Elliot, PA, DublinIreland survived a major scare as they kickstarted their autumn campaign by holding off a spirited Argentina side to return to winning ways with an unconvincing 22-19 victory in Dublin. Andy Farrell’s men were seeking a response to being knocked off the top of the world rankings following last week’s deflating defeat to New Zealand. Jack Crowley helped Ireland to a narrow win over Argentina. Ireland appeared to have made a nightmare start when a poor pass from Henshaw’s midfield partner Garry Ringrose gifted Matias Moroni a third-minute try. The game was still very much in the balance at that stage as Ireland searched in vain for their first points of a stuttering second period.

Streamstown Cafe and toilet facilitiesUpgrade of facilities at Streamstown greenway stop proposedThe November meeting of Athlone Moate Municipal District was told that an application for CLÁR funding for a small kitchen area at the Greenway stop in Streamstown was unsuccessful. Details of the funding for the Streamstown Greenway stop were provided to last week's district meeting by way of a written answer in response to a motion from Cllr Tom Farrell, in which he called for facilities to be enhanced to meet the current demand. The motion described the car park, camper van parking and kitchen facilities at the Greenway stop as being “inadequate.”Cllr Farrell, who received unanimous support for his motion from his fellow councillors, said the Streamstown stop on the Old Rail Trail could be “a showcase for the Greenway network in the Midlands” if facilities were improved. In seconding the motion, Cllr John Dolan said Streamstown had “one of the best voluntary community groups” in Westmeath, and he called for the regularisation of camper van parking at the Greenway stop. “If the camper vans are coming there anyway, we should provide facilities for them as it is a growing market,” he said.

Auctioneers Propstore said it is one of Gallagher’s primary guitars from the Oasis era and believed to be the one he played most often during that part of his career. Liam Gallagher’s tambourine (Propstore/PA)The guitar was made for Gallagher at Gibson’s custom shop in 1997 and was used for performances on The David Letterman Show and Saturday Night Live and for the BBC documentary Oasis: Right Here, Right Now. A Noel Gallagher-signed Yorkshire Tea teapot fetched £1,260 on the second day of Propstore’s four-day live memorabilia auction, while a tambourine used by his bandmate brother Liam went for £6,300. The Gallaghers announced earlier this year they would reform to tour as Oasis in 2025, with dates in the UK and Ireland quickly selling out. Mark Hochman, Propstore’s music specialist, said: “Propstore’s auction was a celebration of music’s cultural impact, with iconic items like John Lennon’s amp, Noel Gallagher’s guitars, and Michael Jackson’s Thriller tour jacket serving as reminders of music history’s incredible legacy.

Belarus, echoing the way they played in the second half of last month’s goalless draw in Hungary, set up deep from the start at Windsor Park and sought to frustrate Northern Ireland with a low block. For much of the first half it was successful, but Northern Ireland prospered with two set-pieces in the second half. After Ballard headed home the opener from captain Shea Charles’ corner, Northern Ireland were awarded a penalty for a handball by Kirill Pechenin which Dion Charles dispatched. Last month Northern Ireland ran riot in a 5-0 win over Bulgaria, but O’Neill had expected this to be a harder challenge and had spoken to his players about needing to be patient and manage their frustration – something they were able to do. He’ll be disappointed he didn’t score in the first half but I think it’s important for him.

“Even with the win tonight, I’d say there’ll be a lot of negative [opinions] about it. But you just have to try and block it out and try to do your best. For nearly two years now, it’s always been that way and it’s stayed that way, so we just need to try and turn it around. “It’s obviously a lot more negative than positive, so I think we just sort of said we’ll stay away and come together as a team. Ferguson said: “It’s good to score for Ireland and win the game at the same time.
