Head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has now won two of the five matches for which he has been in charge, but the fact that Ireland have tasted victory just eight times in their last 34 competitive outings fixtures serves as a reminder that they remain a work in progress. Evan Ferguson (centre right) heads home the winner (Brian Lawless/PA)Striker Benjamin Kallman acrobatically headed just wide from an Antman cross and was then denied one-on-one by Kelleher, and Hradecky had to tip over Szmodics’ well-struck effort after he had muscled defender Arttu Hoskonen off the ball. Johnston tricked his way past Alho once again and chipped the most teasing of crosses into the box for Ferguson to head home from close range. Johnston went just wide after cutting inside Lod from Doherty’s driven pass, but Kelleher was relieved to see Pohjanpalo steer a first-time shot just over from fellow substitute Daniel O’Shaughnessy – his father was born in Ireland – with 22 minutes remaining. Ferguson’s evening took a turn for the worse with 14 minutes remaining when, after a VAR review, he was adjudged to have blocked O’Shaughnessy’s hooked attempt with his arm and German referee Harm Osmers belatedly pointed to the spot.

She could have given private tuition in a commercial basis and make a huge buck garnering comforts and luxuries. She starts the day at 4 am and reaches Dumdum station at 4.30 am. While returning from office, I have often come across this great lady teaching the girls in Dumdum station complex. And my ordinariness as a human being once again enlightens me how gallant at heart this Kanta Chakraborty is!

Gordon made a big-money switch to St James’ Park from Everton in January 2023 having gone close to joining Chelsea the previous summer. “It was quite close to be honest,” Gordon said of the Chelsea move. I felt like my style would suit his style of play, the way he was playing at Chelsea which was very exciting for me. “I wouldn’t say for the new manager to be honest just because that’s way too far into the future,” Gordon added.

Danny Cipriani is jetting back to Britain to play in a cross-code clash at Headingley. “I’m not here to bash Eddie, (but) as an individual he’s not somebody that I’d want to lead my country, because of the way he carries himself. Danny Cipriani earned few opportunities under former England head coach Eddie Jones (Ben Whitley/PA) Photo by Ben Whitley“I don’t think he’s happy with the way he’s behaving and the way he is. Jones led England to consecutive Six Nations Championships and the 2019 World Cup final, but his reign petered out amid increasing questions over his coaching style. And he was one of the few players I’d see who’d stand up to coaches and say the truth, not just go with what’s said all the time.

Plan for high-rise Athlone hotel gets green lightAthlone's skyline looks set to have a new addition in the years ahead, after Westmeath County Council last week approved plans for a hotel that would rise to ten storeys in height on the Ballymahon Road. The proposed development was approved for a site at Cloghanboy, just off the N6 Athlone Relief Road, and close to the Athlone Regional Sports Centre and the Brawny residential area.
