MONROVIA – Police Spokesperson Moses Carter has confirmed that the police have arrested 30 Sierra Leoneans with Liberian voter registration cards in the troubled town of Nomodatahum Town, Gbarpolu County. Prior to Carter’s confirmation, it was alleged that the Sierra Leoneans were behind the arm bush and seizure of the ballot boxes on Sunday. Voting in the town, located in District #3, Gbarpolu County, was suspended on Election Day and rescheduled for December 15, 2020. Some of Madam Kanneh supporters including her relatives were allegedly beaten by members of the traditional society, with their whereabouts unknown. Also, the Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC), in a statement issued in Monrovia strongly condemned the wave of electoral violence that is escalating in Gbarpolu County.

MONROVIA – Provisional results from five counties announced by the National Elections Commission (NEC) on the referendum has placed the ‘YES’ votes for the eight prepositions ahead of the ‘NO’ votes. However, the invalid votes accounts for huge percentage of votes counted so far. According to the NEC, the ‘YES’ votes dominate in counties like Bong, Grand Cape Mount, Maryland, Rivergee and Rivercess. “The NEC declares Sampson Weah of CDC winner of the Sinoe District #2 Sinoe County winner,” the Chairperson stated. Also in Sinoe County, incumbent Senator Augustine Chea of the CDC was announced winner.

Monrovia – A three Day Anti-fraud Conference opens in Monrovia Wednesday with more than 100 fraud professionals, investigators, internal and external auditors, compliance officers, security, bankers and other professionals from different backgrounds are expected to attend. The training conference is being organized under the auspices of the Liberia Chapter- Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. According to a release from the Association, the Conference will allow participants to deal with issues of ethical transgression for Professionals, Data analytics and general fraud prevention techniques. The Liberia Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (Chapter 198) is a member of an international body the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) with global headquarters in Austin, Texas, USA. Fraud is one of the contributing factors to the collapse of flourishing institutions and nations.

MONROVIA – The Liberia Elections Observation Network strongly condemns the electoral violence in Gbarpulo, which again has prevented elections from taking place in Nomodatanau, Kongba district. Security forces have surrounded the town and LEON observers were not allowed to enter to observe last night. Voting got underway this morning in 3 polling places in Nimba and in Grand Gedeh, under the watchful eyes of LEON observers and party agents. LEON observers have reported that all four polling places opened on time today and that everything is proceeding correctly. LEON observers rated the process as very good or good in all tally centers, often commended the magistrates for the transparency of the process.

Tiawan Gongloe is calling on the government for support that could dignify the teaching profession in the country. MONROVIA – The Deputy Minister of National Defense for Operations, Prince Vincent, has begun a nationwide tour in order to acquaint himself and assess the conditions of military facilities around the country. As part of his tour, the Minister, over the weekend, paid a working visit to the Edward Beyan Kesselly Barracks, located along the Roberts International Airport Highway. During the visit, Deputy Minister Vicent informed the Commander of the 23rd Infantry Brigade of Armed Forces of Liberia, Lt/Col.Theophilus Dana, that his visit to the barracks was intended to update the Operational Department of the Ministry of National Defense on the conditions of the barracks. Dana, in a brief chat with Deputy Minister Vincent before the guided tour, expressed delight in having the Deputy Defense Minister visiting the military facilities, stressing that the visit will enable the Deputy Minister to have an appreciable understanding of the current condition of the barracks. The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Assistant Minister of National Defense for Civil Works, Anthony Jelly, Assistant Minister for Public Affairs, Sam Collins, and the United States Defense Advisor to the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia, Thomas G. Wilson amongst others.

Under the National Forestry Reform Law of 2006, logging companies must pay 30 percent of land rental fees to communities. But it has not received any payment from logging concessionaires since 2018, preventing it from carrying out its functions. Communities in September petitioned the National Legislature over the delayed payment, which has yet to be paid.

Voting in the town, located in District #3, Gbarpolu County, was suspended on Election Day when the chief allegedly ordered a group of young people to seize the ballot boxes for unknown reasons. The Precinct Code is #45039 and comprises four polling places with 2,021 registered voters, according the National Elections Commission (NEC). According to the Daily Observer, one of the aggrieved supporters of Madam Kanneh named several persons from the Camp of Rep. Koiwood that were already in the town. At some point we heard that they had to take cover, and that some ballot boxes, again were under siege. On Sunday, she revealed that the NEC magistrate building in River Gee was barricaded with rival senatorial candidates’ supporters who, citing alleged voter fraud, threatened to set the building ablaze while the NEC staff were left stranded inside.

The most recent altercation between Urey and Cummings was during the primary for the selection of senatorial candidate in Nimba County. Mr. Urey has publicly declared that Mr. Cummings, in his own words, “was not fit to be President”, owing to his late arrival on the political landscape. Prior to his demise, DCP Saye served as Company Commander of the Police Support Unit (PSU), Deputy Chief, Emergency Response Unit (ERU), Chief of Emergency Response Unit, Regional Commander, Montserrado Region (U-142), and lastly served as Regional Commander for Region Four (Grand Gedeh and Sinoe Counties). But according to Police Spokesman, Moses Carter NSA Regional Commander Pennue has been charged with the crime murder in connection with the death of the Deputy Commissioner of Police. Not accidentalCarter ruled out speculation that the alleged act was accidentally carried out by the NSA Commander for Grand Gedeh County. Sampson Pennue went home with his weapon to clear or change the magazine and came back later.
