Liberia: Naymote Cautions Government, Opposition to Adhere to Farmington Declaration Embracing Peaceful Elections, Calls for Imposition of Sanctions on WrongdoersPAYNESVILLE – Naymote Partners for Democratic Development says it is deeply concerned over the growing wave of hate speech and political violence in Liberia leading to Liberia’s crucial Presidential and Legislative Elections. “We would like to remind political leaders, parties, and national institutions about their obligations under the Constitution of Liberia; and the commitments under the Farmington River Declaration of Peace which was signed in April 2023,” Naymote said. By signing the Farmington River Declaration of Peace, the institution said political leaders agreed to support and participate in violence-free, peaceful, transparent, and credible legislative and presidential elections on October 10, 2023. It calls on all Liberians including political leaders and party activists to eschew violence; and rather engage in constructive policy debates and mobilize their supporters around transformative agendas to contest the elections. Saudi Arabia Rice Donation Scandal: Thousands Of Bags Missing, Liberia Disaster Management Authority Under Scrutiny
The rice, totaling 29,412 bags, was handed over to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) of Liberia, through its Executive Director Henry O. Williams, for onward distribution to disaster victims and vulnerable Liberian citizens. “Additionally, the team also suspects that NDMA is not prudently managing the rice, beginning with storage and distribution. She also informed the team that Warehouse #1, located at GSA, received 11,200 bags of rice; Warehouse #2 received 12,292; and Warehouse #3, which received 5,920, was at the NDMA. The report indicated that out of the 11,200 bags of rice stored at the GSA, only 6,200 bags are currently there. According to the report, about 15,438 bags should be in storage at the NDMA warehouse.

The Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) agreed to and signed a seven-day agreement on a short-term ceasefire and humanitarian arrangements on May 20 in Jeddah. The statement stated that the Sudanese army violated the prohibition of conducting aerial attacks during this period, saying it flew military aircraft daily. “Both sides undertook attacks and moved troops, weapons and other resources,” the statement noted.
