WELLINGTON: New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is cautiously optimistic about getting fit for the ODI World Cup to be held in India in October-November this year. Williamson supported the idea and was ready to consider it. New Zealand will play three ODIs against Bangladesh in late September ahead of the World Cup, but Williamson “that’s probably a bit early” for him to resume playing. Williamson, who was named player of the tournament at the previous World Cup when NZ lost the final to hosts England on boundary countback after a Super Over, said getting ready for the World Cup was still a tough goal for him. Wellington, Aug 11 (IANS) New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is cautiously optimistic about getting fit for the ODI World Cup to be held in India in October-November this year. Williamson, who is recuperating from a knee injury, on Friday gave some hope to the New Zealand fans by informing them that his recovery was ahead of schedule and on track for selection when the World Cup squad is picked next month. It’s still just guesswork at the moment in terms of when the day is or how it’s tracking at the time. New Zealand will play three ODIs against Bangladesh in late September ahead of the World Cup, but Williamson “that’s probably a bit early” for him to resume playing. A feud between two flatmates led to a serious physical altercation and court proceedings for them both. On December 5, an argument broke out after the defendant accused his flatmate of owing him money and tapping his phone. She walked to the police station and informed staff that the defendant had ammunition in several areas of the house. Winsloe told the court that his flatmate had ‘‘lost it’’ a few times, allegedly causing about $10,000 worth of damage to the house. He sentenced Winsloe to six months’ community detention and 12 months’ supervision and ordered that the ammunition be destroyed.

A new research project has been launched to apply regenerative agriculture practices to the vegetable farming industry, aiming to improve production and environmental outcomes for the vegetable growing sector. It comes as the vegetable growing industry looks to more eco-friendly regenerative farming methods following successes elsewhere in the agricultural sector. The teams hope their research findings will provide valuable insights into how regenerative farming can work across New Zealand's intensive vegetable production system. The industry-wide collaboration, run from LeaderBrand's Gisborne farms, will investigate the impacts of regenerative farming in relation to productivity, profitability, people, and the environment. Regenerative practices are being tested alongside current management practices, with comparisons made between the methods.
