The justification is that there are some really tough twelve and thirteen year olds and that stronger responses are needed. Twelve and thirteen year olds charged with aggravated robbery or aggravated burglary can appear in Youth Court now. And the really tough youths that Hipkins talked about often already have care and protection status with Oranga Tamariki. Unfortunately meaningful discussion about laura norda gets drowned out by the need to be tough on crime.

A chill wind's blowing through the auction rooms, and perhaps a few tumbleweeds as well. There were 157 residential properties on offer at the latest auctions monitored by interest.co.nz (15-21 July), down from 171 the previous week and up over 200 a week prior to that. Fifty eight properties sold under the hammer compared to 80 the previous week and 91 the week before that. That pushed the sales rate down to 37% at the latest auctions, from 47% the previous week and 43% the week before that. It was significant that both auction activity and sales continued to trend down at the latest auctions, even though the previous week was a short one in the lead up to the Matatriki long weekend.

For 3 minutes and 15 seconds, Britney Spears and will.i.am manage to do something incredible: take a star who is on track for one of the greatest comebacks ever, and completely butcher her return. Mind Your Business is, in essence, more of a demand than a song – “mind your b-, mind your b-, mind your business, b….”, a very nasally Spears sings. “Five seconds, and then the dogs come out.”The anticipation is burning. “You know what happens when the dogs come out?” Tell us, Britney! “None of your business.”A part of me hopes that perhaps I am in a dream, and this is not the real Spears single, and all is still at peace in the world.

Gun Control NZ Calls For Faster Implementation Of New Zealand’s Firearms Registry“Gun Control NZ extends our deepest sympathies to the victims of the Auckland shooting. We also acknowledge the bravery of the first responders,” says Gun Control NZ co-founder Nik Green. “This tragedy may well have been prevented if the gun registry were fully implemented. The Canadian Police resisted the destruction of their gun register because it was helping them to prevent and solve crimes,” says Gun Control NZ co-founder Philippa Yasbek. Gun Control NZ is calling on the government to fully implement the registry over the next two years,” says Nik Green.
