He noted that Turji has remained elusive but is now under sustained pressure from coordinated ground operations, human intelligence and technology-driven surveillance. “Based on the most current intelligence received, Bello Turji and others are currently in confusion and panic because of the intensity of our current operations. Idris dismissed claims that Turji controls any local government area or villages, describing such assertions as propaganda by terrorists who constantly flee from military forces. “I dare Bello Turji to come out and present a single local government that he is controlling, ” he said. “All things being equal, Bello Turji will soon be history in the North-West region,” Idris said, stressing that leaders of armed groups are being tracked through all available intelligence platforms.

At the resumed hearing, Anyanwu’s lawyer, U. C. Njemanze-Aku, told the court that the suit had been overtaken by events. The dispute over the office of the PDP National Secretary began when Anyanwu vacated the office to contest the 2023 Imo State governorship election, which he lost. On December 20th 2024, the Court of Appeal in Enugu, upheld an earlier judgment of the Federal High Court, which removed Anyanwu and affirmed Udeh-Okoye as the authentic National Secretary of the PDP. In March 2025, the Supreme Court overturned the decisions of both the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court that had sacked Anyanwu. In an effort to resolve the legal uncertainty, Anyanwu later filed a fresh suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking enforcement of his position and related reliefs.
