Commercial drivers count losses despite over 100% fare hike

Bus hits seven-year-old schoolgirl in UK
A yet-to-be-identified schoolgirl has been knocked down by a bus around the Upper Elmers End Road, between Abbots Way and Stanhope Grove, Beckenham, Greater London, United Kingdom. Following the crash, emergency responders alerted to the incident stormed the scene. In an attempt to rescue the seven-year-old schoolgirl, the emergency responders rushed the minor to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to The Sun UK, the victim’s condition remains unclear. Aside from the schoolgirl, no other person reportedly sustained an injury in the crash as cops detailed to the scene had commenced an investigation.

Kim’s sister slams UN meeting on North Korea’s spy satellite launch
The UN’s under-secretary-general for political and peacebuilding affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, took the Security Council to task on Friday for a “lack of unity and action” on North Korea’s tests. Kim Yo Jong said the UN meeting was another reminder the council was acting as a “political appendage” to “gangster-like” Washington. She vowed to continue launching spy satellites, which the North has previously pitched as necessary to counterbalance the growing US military presence in the region. “The DPRK will continue to take proactive measures to exercise all the lawful rights of a sovereign state, including the one to military reconnaissance satellite launch,” she said. Analysts have said there is significant technological overlap between the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles and space launch capabilities.

The raid of Mangu Local Government Area, where the new state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, hails from, remains one of the worst attacks in the history of the state. In his inaugural speech, Governor Mutfwang expressed determination to face the state’s security challenges head-on. Enugu Govt bans illegal mining activities
The Enugu State government has ordered all illegal mining activities in the state to stop immediately, warning of dire consequences for any illegal miner that flouts its directive, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia announced in a statement on Thursday. The government observed that it was in the overriding interest of the public to protect the people from any hazard or pollution, and also maintain equal rights of benefits accruable from any mineral resources to the people of the state. “Following the directive by His Excellency, the Governor of Enugu State, on the report of the discovery of mineral resources in some communities in Enugu State; and the illegal mining of such mineral resources in those communities without the authorization/consent of the State Government, I hereby direct that all illegal mining activities in Enugu State should stop with immediate effect”, the statement readsREAD ALSO FROM NIGERIAN TRIBUNE
