Police foil N17m Lagos airport fraud, arrest suspect
The Nigeria Police Force has foiled an alleged fraud valued at N17.03m involving imported goods from Canada, with the arrest of a 52-year-old suspect at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The consignment comprised 12 NEC projectors and 12 Automatic External Defibrillators (AED Plus), with a total naira value of N17,032,160. Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, said she immediately ordered a discreet and intelligence-driven investigation upon receipt of the complaint. The CP added that operatives of the command acted on credible intelligence to track and arrest the suspect, who has since confessed to his involvement in the crime. “The command remains resolute in deploying intelligence-led policing strategies to safeguard Nigeria’s airports and protect the travelling public,” she said.

New champions emerge at Cohesion Football Tournament
In the female category, Wazbak Queens continued their dominance, defeating Unification Ladies 1–0 to retain their crown and make history as the first female team to win the Cohesion Football Tournament back-to-back. AFCON: Eagles intensify training ahead of Tanzania clash
The Super Eagles held their fourth training session at their base in Fes, Morocco, on Sunday, ahead of their Group C clash against Tanzania in the 2025 AFCON on Tuesday, The PUNCH reports. Nigeria and Tanzania will face off at the Complex Sportif de Fes, in the first match of Group C on Tuesday. Following their arrival in Morocco last Thursday, the team began to put finishing touches to their preparation with two training sessions on Friday before more sessions on Saturday and Sunday. FG Approves Mandatory Drug Test for Public Service Applicant

Nigeria-US diplomatic dispute resolved, FG confirms
The Federal Government has said its recent diplomatic disagreement with the United States has been largely resolved following sustained engagement between both countries. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known on Monday at a year-end news conference in Abuja. According to Idris, Nigeria handled the situation with maturity and principle, leading to a stronger relationship with the United States. “The recent diplomatic spat with the United States has been largely resolved through a firm, respectful engagement culminating in a strengthened partnership between America and Nigeria,” the minister said. Beyond the 2025 surge in foreign capital inflows
Foreign capital inflow is very significant for the health of an economy. These are good indicators of progress, but the country must not lose sight of the factors that led to the increase in foreign capital inflows. With Nigeria’s removal from the FATF grey list, foreign investors found the country to be a safe place to transfer funds and thus engage in meaningful investment activities, resulting in a significant inflow of foreign capital over this period. While these foreign capital inflows are increasing and moving in the right directions, the challenge now is to ensure that the dark days of the Buhari administration on these issues do not resurface. While the CBN is highly elated at the positive developments, it should not lose sight of its core functions in relation to how the increased foreign capital inflows will be applied.

Outer district Police nab proclaimed offender, detain Nigerian National for Visa overstay
On December 21, 2025, Police Station Nihal Vihar, conducted a routine survey focused on identifying illegally staying foreign nationals within their jurisdiction. Upon being intercepted and questioned, the individual was unable to produce a valid passport, visa or any other document authorising his stay in India.
